Date of Passing: Feb 17, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARTIN (MARTY) STUART HALPRIN It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Marty Halprin on February 17, 2013 in Tuscon, AZ. He is mourned by his father Herb (Susan); Celia, the mother of children; his daughter Stephanie (Brian) and grandson Zander; son Nathan; his brothers Irving (Diane) and Philip (Brenda), and nephews and nieces. He will be deeply missed by extended family and many friends from the biking, car and jewellery worlds alike. Marty started riding his bike in his early teens, which proved to be a life long passion, leading him to compete in many different types of races. From triathlons, to the Ironman, to exciting adventure eco-challenges, Mart's appetite for adventure was overflowing. Among his obsessions, were collecting rare coins and antiques, interesting bikes and gear, and of course, jewellery, diamonds and gold. Marty started his first shop with his wife, Celia in 1979, called the Mint Ventures, which evolved into Celias Jewellery, and later, Marty's Diamond and Gold Exchange. Funeral service was held at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue on Monday, February 25, 2013. Pallbearers were Josh Halprin, Mike Halprin, Brian Burke, Walter Jozwiak, Eric Reid, and Danny Lockery.

I was deeply saddened upon hearing of Marty's passing. Truly a mench. I was honoured to know and (mostly) ride behind him. My heartfelt sympathies go out to Celia, your immediate and extended families. May the Almighty comfort you amongst the mourners of Zion and Yerushalym. - Posted by: Les Dukes (Friend) on: Sep 16, 2013

I used to work for Marty. He always had a smile and was easygoing yet I was amazed at how much he got done. He was a nice guy and I'll miss him. - Posted by: John Vaderna (Friend) on: Mar 18, 2013

I was privileged to be a houseguest at cousin Marty's for many years as I frequently came back home to Winnipeg ..each time Marty and I would sit in the evening eating Jeannie's cake and catching up on family news. My job was to bring the chocolates from Vancouver There was always a banana out in the morning and my visits to Winnipeg were always that much sweeter for our friendship and visits. There was always a bedroom for me and always a spare key in my pocket. Marty was always pleased to show me his latest biking gadgets but first he would hold out his hands which meant that he wanted to clean my jewellery. In fact he insisted upon it. It was a never failing ritual and it is these little rituals and kindnesses that make up our lives. I will miss cousin Marty and all of the moments we shared together. I hold him closely in my heart... may his memory always be for a blessing - Posted by: Rokie bernstein (First cousin) on: Mar 16, 2013
