IRENE DORTHEA JELLIFF (nee DIVER) Irene passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at the Golden Door Personal Care Home in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 85 years. She was born June 25, 1927 at the Misericordia Hospital in Winnipeg. Irene was the second of three girls whose parents farmed in the Wawanesa-Hilton area. Irene was predeceased by her sister Ruth Minary in 1980, brother-in-law Bill Shearer and her husband Alfred Jelliff in 2012. Irene was married in 1953 in Wawanesa to Alfred Jelliff of Rivers, Manitoba. She worked for an Insurance Agent in Rivers and then took a position at the Canadian Joint Air Training Centre outside of Rivers. Both daughters, Valerie Dianne and Sandra-Lea were born at the Hamiota Hospital. Irene moved to Winnipeg with her family where she worked for the Fort Garry School Division, the Provincial Government and Simmons Bedding. Irene and Al began a fuel tax reporting business (Symtax Consultants) working for smaller Trucking Companies. She was an active member for many years with the Fort Garry United Church. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Val (John) Baker, Sandy (Murray) Scott; sister Mazie (Bill) Shearer; sister-in-law Gailia Brown; grandchildren: Jennifer (Rhys), Matthew (Aubree), Kelsi, Devon (Jesse), Sawyer and Dallas, and great-grandchildren: Madden, Beck, Farrah and Jax. Irene also leaves behind nieces: Wilma, Denise, Gail, Tracy, Maxine and Linda, and nephews: Elwood and David. Thank you to all the staff at the Golden Door Personal Care Home who cared for Mom over the past five years. A funeral service to celebrate Irene's life will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Willmor Chapel, Glenboro, MB, Phyllis Mulligan officiating. Interment to follow in Glenboro Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations in Irene's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
