Condolences & Memories (11 entries)

  • I knew him back in the 80's when I started 2 stepping. Al was a very special person...very caring...always smiling...a lot of fun to be around...he was everyone's friend. He loved to dance and everyone loved to dance with him. My condolences to wife, Betty and family. - Posted by: Linda Loewen (friend) on: May 22, 2013

  • I came across Al's phone no. after so many years and wanted to call to say hello. Al and I were dance friends at the Stardust and Buffalo Bills. We loved to 2-step and he kept all us girls happy on the dance floor. He truly was a kind and gentle person and I will never forget all the great dances we had! Kind thoughts are with his wife Betty and family. - Posted by: Sherril Douglas (dance friend) on: May 21, 2013

  • Al and I were friends since the early 80's. He taught me how to 2-step at the Stardust country bar. Al always had an amazing smile and always had made me smile. We will miss you Al. My prayers are with you Betty and your Family. - Posted by: Mary-Ann Kocian (Friend) on: Mar 31, 2013

  • Al was an older cousin that I knew well enough to remember. He is the son of my Godmother, my dad and his dad were brothers. Visited with you and Betty in Gull Lake and was very welcomed. Have not kept in touch but, may you rest in peace and condolences to all the family. - Posted by: Jeannine Allard (Fiola) (Cousin) on: Mar 21, 2013

  • So sorry to hear of Al's passing. We saw him fight and stay strong for so long. He was a gentle man with an infectious smile, whom I know you will miss dearly. Thoughts are with you Betty. Chanda GH3 - Posted by: Chanda (Nurse) on: Mar 20, 2013

  • Al, what a awesome person, friends since the late seventies, we met at CP express and transport and every time we met for brIEf moments in different places, times and years, it was always like yesterday. Just a fun person to talk to we always talked of the years gone by and how fast life Is traveling. Al was my buddy and we never let time rush us when we talked. Friends forever Al I will never forget you So sorry Betty for your loss, - Posted by: DAVID DRAPER (buddies forever) on: Mar 20, 2013

  • Al is my first cousin. His father and my mother are brother and sister. The first real memory I have of Al is when I was under five years old, we had a family outing to Shoal Lake and I decided to join Uncle Noel, Aunt Jeanne, Al, his special friend at that time, and Paul. I sat on Al's lap the whole way and had a blast. He was my idol for many years afterwards. During the years, we lost touch and I grew up and hadn't seen Al, except at a distance at a funeral, for many years. Last year, when Al went through his second, I believe, stomach surgery, we had the privilege of driving Mom to the hospital to visit with Al and Betty. We had a wonderful visit. He had an amazing outlook on life. I am so grateful that we went to visit at the hospital with Mom. He was one of those long lost cousins that I was able to re-kindle a friendship with after so many years. You will be sadly missed Al by all that knew you. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Denise Michaud (cousin on Fiola side) on: Mar 20, 2013

  • Barbara and me know you for just a short period of time at Gull lake, I cannot forget your openness and hospitality to me and my family. Your being full of energy is admiring. I hope we know each other more, but this way is God's will. I know we are planning to have a family B-B-Q this spring but I know you will still be joining us even though you are not present physically. So long my friend on your journey to see our Creator. - Posted by: Roy & Barbara (Friend) on: Mar 20, 2013

  • Al was one of a kind even though he was sick he kept us laughing. He was the guy you met once and it felt like you had known him for years. Rest in peace Al. - Posted by: Linda Kowbel (freind) on: Mar 20, 2013

  • We have known you and Betty for a very short period of time but it seems like we've known you guys forever. You and Joe are like little rascals at Gh-3. Pain or without pain the jokes are always there for you to crack! We will miss you Al... - Posted by: Joe and Delia Sto.Domingo (Hospital "roommate") on: Mar 19, 2013

  • We were friends of Al's over 30 years ago. After not seeeing him for many years my husband bumped into him at the Superstore parking lot. I couldn't figure out why my husband was taking so long to put the cart away and then I saw him talking to someone. When I realized it was Al I jumped out of the car and hugged him for what seemed like eternity. I just couldn't let him go. He was a very dear friend and don't know how we lost touch. Last year we bought a cabin at Hillside Beach and on our drives back and forth I often told my husband "We have to get ahold of Al and stop by to visit him or have him out to our cabin" He is godfather to two of my children. Although we haven't seen him in a very long time we still think of him as a dear and special friend. We are so sorry for your loss Betty.
