RUBY CLARA KLABUNDE
Date of Passing: Mar 17, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUBY CLARA KLABUNDE With tremendous sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our dear Grandmother Ruby Clara Klabunde, at the age of 96 years on Sunday, March 17, 2013. Ruby is survived by her three grandchildren, Scott Anderson, Kimberly Schultz (James), Erin Anderson (Mark) as well as six great-grand-children. She also leaves to mourn special family friends, Norman and Arlo Ohlson and Dick and Patricia Ward. Ruby was predeceased by her biological and adoptive parents as well as her two sisters. Ruby was also predeceased by her three husbands as well as her son Robert Anderson. Robert passed in 1993. Ruby graduated from Baudette High School in 1935. Soon after high school she married her first husband Stephen Anderson and had her one and only son Robert in 1946. They owned and operated Anderson Camp in Redditt, ON. Ruby married her second husband Karl Klabunde and moved to Cooks Creek, MB, to be closer to her family. Karl passed in 1982. Years later Ruby met her forever love Cliff Ward. Ruby and Cliff enjoyed retirement and farm life with many animals to care for. Ruby spent Cliff's remaining months caring for him in a nursing home until his passing in 2001. Ruby enjoyed many hobbies such as board games, her favourite being Scrabble. She had a passion for drawing and painting. She loved reading and could often finish a book in one day. She had a sense of humor like no other. She could make you laugh and cry at the same time. Ruby's comeback's only got better with age. She adored the time she spent with Chevy, Hudson, Adison and Molly, they were the ones who kept her young at heart. Ruby never let a day go by without expressing her love for her family. She cared more for others than herself at times. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. We would like to thank the doctors and staff at Concordia Hospital as well as everyone at the Misericordia Hospital-Cornish 2 Unit for their care and compassion for our Grandmother. There will be no Funeral/Memorial service; Cremation has taken place as per Ruby's wishes. THE DAY YOU LEFT WITH TEARS WE SAW YOU SUFFER, WE WATCHED YOU FADE AWAY, OUR HEARTS WERE BROKEN, AS YOU FOUGHT SO HARD TO STAY. WE KNEW YOU HAD TO LEAVE US, BUT YOU NEVER WENT ALONE, FOR A PART OF US WENT WITH YOU, THE DAY GOD CALLED YOU HOME. 204-586-8044

DENVER CO - I am the grand niece of Ruby's adoptive parents, Chris and Anne Hanson. I have many pictures and documents of Ruby, her Hanson sisters and both her biological and adoptive parents. I was in communication with her in 2003 and I am so sorry to hear of her passing. I am deeply sadden that I didn't attempt to reach out to her, again, to interview her and document her biography and memories of her childhood and young adult life. Please feel free to contact me. My deepest sympathies, Kristy - Posted by: Kristy Hanson Hiller (1st cousin, 1x removed) on: Jul 06, 2013

I went to school with Bobby Anderson in Redditt. Ruby cut my hair when I was about 12 years old and I also had my first job, cleaning cabins at the tourist camp. She was always a kind person and took in many of Bobby's friends who needed a place to stay. We had many a party in one of the cabins and had a great time growing up here in Redditt. She lived a long life and touched many lives. Just a wonderful person. - Posted by: Louisa Rowland (Friend from Redditt.) on: Apr 29, 2013

Ruby was my mother's cousin and was a Lundstrom whose father came from Sweden. She once visited our family in Longview, Wash. I live in Calif. now. Ruby and I started writing in the 1980s. Then my husband Dave and I visited her and Cliff in the big brick house in about 1990. What a happy couple they were, and I've enjoyed our letter writing ever since. We shared the interest in the game of Scrabble but never did play together. I guess if we were younger and adaptable to the computer method, we could have played it together. She was a good one!! I'm glad Ruby had you grandchildren nearby. She was proud of you all. - Posted by: Carol Anderson (cousin, once removed) on: Apr 18, 2013
