MARGARET WOWCHUK It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our much loved wife, mother, aunt and grandmother Margaret Wowchuk (nee Sigurdson). Margaret passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2013, at home with her loving husband Wesley and her son Kendall and his wife Daurelle by her side. Margaret leaves to cherish her memories her husband Wesley, two sons Jerry (Charlene) and Kendall (Daurelle), sisters Inga (Alf) and Lillian, brothers Bill, Ron (Marie) and David (Linda) and grandchildren Brenden and Morgen. She will also be sadly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her mother Anna Wyrcimaga, father Siggi Sigurdson and sister Lorraine Thompson. Margaret was born on December 18, 1932, in Arnes, MB, and she raised her family in St. James, Winnipeg where she lived with her husband Wesley for over 52 and a half years. When she first came to the city she worked at CN Telegraphers and then the Grain Exchange Commodities. When her first child Jerry was born she stayed home to care for him. Two years later Kendall came along. Throughout the years Margaret babysat, made perogies, loved hosting parties, playing bingo, going to the Legion and volunteered at Oakwood Care Home. Family was always the most important thing for Mom. A special thank you to Dr. Kumar and all the staff at the CancerCare building for all the care and compassion that they gave Margaret. At her request, cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends to share memories will be held on Thursday, March 28 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Flowers are gratefully declined; memorial donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Our wife, mother and grandmother is now free of pain For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715

  • Words can't express the impact that Mrs. Wowchuk made on our whole family. We have known her since we were children and it always felt like we were visiting our grandmother. Like all grandmothers, she always tried to feed us her famous perogies. She was a funny, good hearted individual who always had a smile and time to talk. She will be sadly missed. - Posted by: Bill, Sonia and Family (Dauphinais) (Friends) on: Mar 25, 2013

  • Wes and Margaret and my parents were the closest of friends. So it was, that my brother Murray and I (Karen) grew up with Margaret & Wes's boys while our parents visited often. When I was in need of care for my own young children (Colin and Laura) Margaret was there without hesitation. She was a Godsend to us. Other than my own Mom/Mom-In-Law, I could not have asked for more loving and caring hands to care for my children when I had to work full time. She was their Aunty Margaret! Colin and Laura were very attached to Margaret and were happy to go to her house. She had a special way with children. I was amazed how she could get them to do just about anything. They loved the perogie making times because Margaret let them play with and roll dough. They left her house always with smiles. Our deepest condolences to you Wes, Jerry and Kenny and family. Margaret is a lady one will not forget. She always had a smile and a "come on in" for you. She even sent me on my way to work with coffee. Our family is thankful for her and will miss her. Heaven now has this amazing gracious lady. Karen, Ian, Colin and Laura McKay - Posted by: Karen, Ian,Colin , and Laura McKay (family friend) on: Mar 25, 2013
