GLENN MADDEN It is with broken hearts that our family sadly announces the sudden passing of Glenn Madden on Monday, February 25, 2013, at the young age of 45. Glenn grew up most of his life in Winnipeg and is survived by his mother Grace; brother Calvin (Tammy and Ainsley) of Elma, Manitoba; brother John (daughter Karli) of Winnipeg; sister Michelle Galbraith (Ryan) and his nieces and nephew Jaeda, Jorja, and Cody of Headingley, Manitoba; brother Carey (Kelly and Connor) of Calgary, Alberta. He was predeceased by his father Cal Madden in 1992. He is also survived by his extended family and many friends. Glenn grew up in sunny St. James (Westwood) most of his life, but his passion for cooking and being a chef allowed him to see different parts of the countryside. He particularly enjoyed several years of his life living and working in Banff. However, Glenn would probably consider his life in Banff less work and more play, as he enjoyed the outdoors and would spend as much of his time snowboarding in the mountains and mountain biking in the summer or just sipping a Moosehead with friends. Glenn was an avid hockey player in his younger years and could be found at the community hockey rink every chance he got. His unique skills and love of the sport did not go unnoticed, as Glenn played for such teams as the Canadians, Saints, Blues and Winnipeg Warriors. Our family would like to thank family and friends for their warm thoughts and generosity the last few weeks, as it has helped us cope with the pain. Glenn, you will be greatly missed. Rest in peace Bird Dog. Love Always. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. A small, private family service will be held at a later date. Glenn would have wanted a celebration of life. Therefore, arrangements will be made for family and friends to get together at a later date.

Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • The time I spent cooking with Glenn, although was only over a few weeks, will be imbedded in my heart and soul forever! Glenn is one of very few chefs that I would consider an equal! Not many could ever produce the quality or quantity and even less could ever match his character!! To say he was one in a million would be an understatement. His love for cooking and creating lifetime friends over a matter of days with his honesty and sincerity is a trade not found in many. In my 30 years cooking I have only a short list that I would consider a "Chef" and Glenn is at the top of it. I found his obituary searching to find him because of a position that opened up and that only a person of Glenn's calibre not only as a chef!!! He was hard core! A true man! And an awesome friend!!! There is very little men that I would tell that I loved them and most of those brothers of mine have had to earn my love over years and years where I would consider Glenn my brother and only worked with him for less than two months! I will treasure all of the music, hand shakes, beers, and laughs for ever! I am heading out to the garage now to crack a cold one and have a huge smoke for him now! Love you Glenn and I will cheer you till I wake tomorrow!! Where ever you are now is a better place because of you! Your friend, Carl Scott. - Posted by: Carl Scott " The Carl" (Co-worker Chef and friend ) on: Feb 07, 2015
