KENNETH WAYNE PERCIVAL May 14, 1949 - March 15, 2013 After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Ken passed away peacefully on Friday, March 15, 2013 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. He was 63 years old. Predeceased by his father, Arthur, and mother, Helen, Ken is survived by his loving wife Brigitte, his sons Max and John (John's mother Anne), his sister Kathy (Brian) and brothers Gary (Monica), Grant (Lil) and Dale (Cheryl) and his many nephews. He will be remembered by his parents-in-law, Emi and Klaus, sister-in-law, Rosewitha, and numerous friends and relatives in Winnipeg and Canada who meant a great deal to him. Successfully self-employed for many years, Ken was a hard worker who showed dedication to whatever task was before him. He was a kind and gentle-natured soul who loved the outdoors and could be found most at home in his boat travelling the open waters, cooking up a storm in the kitchen and tending to barbeque duty, or working on his model airplanes, a hobby which would prove a lifelong fascination. Among those who knew him well, Ken will be remembered for his legendary clumsiness, an endearing quality that brought countless laughs to himself and those around him and spawned stories which will continue to be told for years to come. Most of all though, Ken will be remembered for his limitless love and dedication to his family. He always put family first and could be relied upon no matter how big or trivial the need with a warm smile and open arms. He was our rock. In his final years, Ken showed incredible strength in the face of a terrible disease. He never gave up hope, always making plans for the future, shielding those around him through constant reassurances even in the face of difficult times. The family would like to thank Ken's doctors, nurses and home care staff for their dedication and support throughout his trials. Cremation has taken place. There will be no memorial service at Ken's request. A private celebration of Ken's life will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted at the Manitoba CancerCare Foundation and the Winnipeg Humane Society.

  • Had fun times with Ken at Woodchuck Bay. RIP buddy. - Posted by: LESLIE BURGOYNE (friend) on: Sep 07, 2021

  • One of my fondest and oldest memories of my brother were the mornings I would get up early each day to spend breakfast with Ken when he was attending university. With our age difference (15 yrs) he was the only brother from who I never suffered any teasing, never anything but love. He was my Hero. I will miss you deeply Ken until the day when God calls me also to his side. At this time my thoughts are not of my loss but of that of his wife Bridgette, whom he adored, and my nephews John and Max who lost their father far too early. I love you all and forever. - Posted by: Kathleen Percival (Sister) on: Apr 06, 2013

  • Ken was a kind and gentle soul who was totally devoted to his family...what a terrible loss for them. Lots of good memories of Ken from the many gourmet dinners whipped up in his kitchen to him dancing up a storm poolside at the Acapulco villa in a long blonde wig. Rest well, Ken, until we meet again. - Posted by: Maree Grigaitis (Old friend) on: Mar 27, 2013

  • Many many years ago I knew Ken. He was a good friend who taught me how to drive in his little car. And when I had my daughter he was very helpful and remained my friend when many others turned their heads. I lost contact with him after moving to BC but he remained in my thoughts forever. Rest in Peace Ken - Posted by: Marlene James (Old friend) on: Mar 23, 2013

  • Ken was a true friend. Soft spoken and full of knowledge. Always there when u needed him. We have many great memories with triple gainers at Xmas party, trips inc Lake of the Woods boating, camping, and Kaptain Kennies Kooking!! The Rat Pack axe in the head weekend in the USA was the one we all remembered but Ken didnt. Pool parties at our house (tipsy & clumsy) not only could describe the parties but could have been nicknames for Brigette and Ken!! We will all miss him very much!
