CAROL SARGEANT January 7, 1943 - March 15, 2013 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend after a courageous struggle with leukemia. Left to mourn her loss is her husband Dean of 47 years, her children Ken and Kevin (Denise), grandchildren Alyssa and Ciera, sister Diane (Axel) and numerous friends. Her grandchildren lit up her eyes every time they entered the room; she was a proud grandmother. Her and Dean enjoyed their summers at the cottage and spent their past 10 winters in Mesa, AZ. She was well known for her quick wit and kind laughter that will be missed dearly. In keeping with Carol's wishes there will be no funeral service; instead donations can be made to the St. Boniface Hospital. Thank you to all our family and friends for their care and support at an extremely difficult time. Thanks also to the doctors and staff on 6E at St. Boniface Hospital for their compassion.

  • Dean and family. I was very shocked when I heard of Carol's passing. I will never forget all the good things she did for everyone, especially her mother. Carol was always there when her mother needed her the most. I will always remember the good childhood memories of sitting down to Sunday dinners at Aunty Lena's and Uncle Ted's. There would be 8 or more of us for dinner and there would be enough food for at least 20 people. Carol loved her mother's roast chicken and homemade apple pie and so did everyone else. Only one lucky person would get to have 2 slices of pie. I also remember the times when we would go over to Pinkam school and slide down the fire escape until someone came by and chased us away and of all the little "tea parties" we had in the backyard play house. Carol was a warm and friendly person and I know she passed that on to her family. Although we weren't as close to one another in later life than when we were kids, we would still run into each other from time to time and give each other a big hug. I'm glad Carol was a part of my life. My condolences to Dean and family. - Posted by: Lynne Morin (cousin) on: Mar 24, 2013

  • I was saddened to hear of Carol's passing. My heart goes out to you. Carol was my cousin and was also the flower girl when my parents were married. I first met Carol and Dean with my Mother Lorraine a few years back. Mom had such respect and admiration for Carol for all the things that she had done for her own mother and in life. Carol was proud of her family and it showed. I never met the boys but she spoke highly of them. I ran into her at Southbeach last summer after moving here and after talking with her she really seemed to enjoy life. Now the angles have taken her home and she will be missed and thought of often. I'm glad I had the chance to know her. - Posted by: Sharon Hulmes (Cousin) on: Mar 24, 2013

  • I am so sorry to hear of Carol's passing. I remember as kids playing in the playhouse that her dad built in the backyard. My condolences to Dean and your family. - Posted by: Janice Rathbone (Cousin) on: Mar 23, 2013

  • Carol was the best mother in-law anyone could ask for. I will cherish all the wonderful memories I have of her. We enjoyed playing yahtzee, skip-bo and scrabble at the lake. She was a "hands on" grandma who loved to spend time with Alyssa and Ciera. She trusted the girls to put make up on her (even if she came out looking like a clown) and nail polish on her nails. She also enjoyed doing crafts with them. We will miss and love her forever! Until we meet again. - Posted by: Denise Sargeant (Daughter In-law) on: Mar 23, 2013
