ROBERT (BOB) TOKAR August 13, 1930 - March 14, 2013 We regret to announce the sudden passing of Bob Tokar after a brief illness with cancer. Bob has been predeceased by his parents, Carl and Julie Tokariwski, brother Mike Tokariwski, and sister Alice Worbeck. He is survived by his brothers Walter (Marianne) Tokar and Julian Tokariwski; daughters Marie (Lou) Profeta-Tokar, Elizabeth (Nick) Skoropet; son Robert (Gail and Matthew) Tokar, and one granddaughter, Ashley Skoropet. Bob loved anything with motors. He was a GM mechanic for 35 years working for Community Chevrolet and then Gauthier's. Bob won numerous awards over his career. Once retired, he was a steady fixture in Rob's shop, helping Rob with mechanical duties, refurbishing old buildings, cutting his patch of grass, or having a beer in the gazebo. Bob worked tirelessly with each of his children when a project required it. He enjoyed Betula Lake with the Skoropets and always found time to help Marie and Lou with their property. The ultimate house sitter, Bob could be counted on to stay and look after the faithful "critters", Whiskers, Jack, Turbo and Blackie when we would go on vacation. Bob especially enjoyed walking the back trails in Pine Ridge with Leon and then, Jack. As per Bob's wishes, no service will be held. Cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob's honour to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3.

When I started working at The Curtis, I didn't know the kind of friends I'd make there would be so lasting. And you never really anticipate that they'd be so fleeting. You'd never guess that Bob was 82. He was fun, friendly, practical, he used to love to drive me crazy with trivial questions when I'd get overwhelmed at the desk. He was one of the best friends I'd ever had as he never really asked anything of me than to be myself and he treated everyone that way. All the interesting people he knew and the things he knew about. Good luck wherever you ended up Bobert. I'll miss you. - Posted by: Dawn Hinchliffe (Friend) on: Mar 27, 2013

So very sorry to see Bob's passing. I met him while I was a front desk clerk at the Curtis. He often stopped in to chit-chat. I've often thought about him over the years & how was doing. One time during our chats, he was heading out for supper & told me what he was having. The reason this conversation stuck in my mind was because he was having nicois salad and he couldn't get over the fact that I didn't know what it was! So he's walking out the door, shaking his head, saying: she don't know what a nicois salad is! And I'm left pondering this nicois salad! Of coarse, we were both chuckling at the time.! My heart goes out to you . God Bless. - Posted by: Danielle Giesbrecht (Friend) on: Mar 23, 2013
