JAMES (JIM) HAROLD GATES January 3, 1930 - March 16, 2013 Peacefully on Saturday, March 16, 2013 Dad passed away at his home at the age of 83. He was predeceased by his mother Isabella Lister (nee Watson) in 1971, his father William "Harold" in 1997, and our Mom, Joan Elizabeth (nee Peckover) in 2012. Dad is lovingly remembered by sons, Bob (Kathy), Jim (Kathy), Paul (Karen) and daughter Barbara (Maurice) Laferriere. In addition he is loved and missed by his brother Don (Kit); grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Dad worked for Gulf Oil and its predecessor British American (B/A) Oil for more than 32 years. He loved sports and played baseball, hockey, soccer, lacrosse and curling. Dad was never really comfortable showing his feelings, but he cared for and loved his family very much. Dad was a true "dog person". His last faithful canine friend was Kody, who passed a few years ago and we are sure Kody was there to meet Dad at the "Rainbow Bridge". Special thanks to Jean and Connie for being such good friends to Dad. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dad's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society. In keeping with Dad's wishes cremation has taken place and no service will be held. Loving and missing you always, Dad!
