NORMA E. MILES (nee SWEEZIE) September 7, 1919 - March 24, 2013 Norma E. Miles (nee Sweezie) passed into the arms of her Heavenly Father peacefully, on March 24, 2013 at Jocelyn House, Winnipeg, after a lengthy illness. Norma was born September 7, 1919 near Wyvale, ON, the youngest daughter in a family of 12. She grew up on the family farm and as a young woman moved to Toronto where she met and married John M. Miles in 1942. Norma moved west with John and together they raised a family and lived in many places throughout western Canada before separating in 1980. For many years, Norma offered her Winnipeg home to many women from all over the world who visited Winnipeg to study or teach at the University of Manitoba. Mom kept many of those women close to her heart and thought of them as family. She took pride in her talents of home-making and cooking. Mom was always willing to try her hand at a new dish, and learned to cook and then to love many of the dishes introduced to her by her lady guests from other lands. Beloved mother to Karen (Joe), Bryce (Bonnie), Robert (Janice) and Christopher (Myrna), grandmother to Kendra, Amanda, Adam, Brett (Deb), and Paige (Isaac), and great-grandmother to Lourdes, Romy, and Abigail. She is survived by her brother Don and many nieces and nephews and extended family. The family is grateful to Dr. Irum Iqbal at Four Rivers Medical for her wonderful care and to Jocelyn House Hospice, 177 Egerton Rd., St. Vital, where Rose Marie, Jo-Ann, Holly, Lynn, Pat, Danielle, Richard and so many others took such loving care of her. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Norma's Life will be held at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 600 Cambridge Street in Winnipeg on Saturday, March 30 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jocelyn House.
