JENNIFER RAE GERUS May 7, 1979 March 23, 2013 Jennifer Rae Gerus (nee Brown) passed into eternal peace on March 23, 2013 surrounded by her family. Jennifer will be forever loved by her husband Roman, daughter Natasia, parents Roger and Joan Brown, sister Caroline Hebert (Ryan), grandmother Ellen Miles, parents-in-law Oleh and Bonnie Gerus, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as all of those whose lives she touched. Jennifer loved the sense of community in her hometown of Winnipeg. Her true heart lay in the home she found with her family. Her adventurous spirit guided her on many exciting treks across European countries as well as North Africa and Northern and Central America. She enjoyed playing the piano and was an excellent figure skater as well as dancer. She loved rock climbing and went on a number of climbing trips with her friends. Throughout Jennifer's life she had a special affinity for nurturing and working with children. This led her to her chosen career as a special education resource teacher. In 2008, Jennifer married Roman and in 2010 they welcomed their daughter Natasia. She is Jen's masterpiece; her world; her legacy. Jennifer touched the hearts and lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her and she will live on in our memories forever. For all of this we honor the beauty that was Jen, and we grieve the loss. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Jennifer's name to either the Canadian Cancer Society or the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority Palliative Care Program. A celebration of Jennifer's life will be held on March 28, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Westminster United Church. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Condolences & Memories (20 entries)

  • It's impossible to forget a person like Jennifer. It saddens me to know that people as great as Jennifer can pass on while others who are even a fraction of her spirit seem to live endlessly without ever contributing not only to their own life but to others who surround them. Jennifer will never be replaced because her spirit is so unique and special. She genuinely loved people as God loves us. She was a true inspiration to anyone that knew her and made my life and others more enriched. I'll think about Jennifer forever because in my mind, she's not far from home. - Posted by: Darren Bates (Friend) on: Jun 15, 2013

  • I taught with with Jennifer at St. B. I enjoyed many laughs with her and I remember her passion for travel, rock climbing and the little babybel cheeses that her loving dad would drop off for her lunch! Through our conversations I came to know that Jennifer loved and appreciated her family and friends very much. I lost contact with her after she left St. B but I sure never forgot her. I am deeply saddened to learn of her passing. My condolences to all her family. - Posted by: Sharon Ste. Marie (former coworker at St. Boniface Diocesan High School) on: May 07, 2013

  • Roger and Family, I am very sorry to hear of your loss. I remember how fondly you spoke of your girls. This Eskimo proverb was sent to me when my Mom passed away, I still take great comfort in it and hope you will as well. Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones smile down to let us know that they are happy. Thinking of you and wishing you comforting memories. • Jennifer inspired the staff at her school with her courage. When she was down she persevered, showed her inner strength and got back up. She was motivated to continue working and finish her reading -recovery certification. Jennifer will be remembered by J.B Mitchell students and staff with a dedicated book series purchased for Natasia for her home and a set in our library at school. Jennifer was passionate about life as well as reading. All students who were mentored by Jennifer will always be reminded of her loving spirit. We (J.B staff) are all thinking of you as you live the pain of losing someone you loved so dearly. We were with her on her journey, supporting her in our thoughts and prayers. from Suzanne - Posted by: Suzanne Bormann (co-worker at J.B Mitchell School) on: Mar 27, 2013
