Born: Feb 02, 1959
Date of Passing: Mar 23, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHELAGH WILLCOCK Shelagh Willcock, born February 2, 1959, died Saturday, March 23, 2013 after a valiant fight with cancer. She was a beloved spouse of Paul Goodson; cherished daughter of Elizabeth Willcock and the late David Willcock; much loved sister of Michael, John and Peter Willcock and Mary-Kay Smith, sister-in-law of Geraldine Willcock, Ginny Brown, Dolfi Havlovic, Enos Comeau, Lynn Willcock, and Peter and Robert Goodson, and daughter-in-law of Terry and Gloria Goodson. She was an adored and doting aunt of Michael, Ashley, Evan, Mimi, John and Elizabeth Willcock, Andrew Smith and Shelagh Roberts, each of whom will have special memories of her. Shelagh was a lover of all things great and small. She was an accomplished equestrian, judge and groom and happiest around horses, dogs and people, probably in that order. She spent many happy hours in the saddle and with her favourite animal, Pearl, a beautiful Anglo-Arab. Her interests in horses led her to serve, for a time, as the director of the Manitoba Horse Council. She rescued and fostered more dogs than she ought to have, even in her final illness, unwilling to part with those she had nursed back to health until they were well and truly cared for, through Hull's Haven Border Collie Rescue. She leaves Eevie, a "genius", Amigo and Nessa at home. Shelagh was a lifelong student of fine art. She studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Manitoba and was a talented artist and sculptor. She spent countless hours at and for some time was a fundraiser for the Winnipeg Art Gallery. She cared deeply for others and gave readily of her talents and love. For many years she served as a director and secretary of the Maitland B. Steinkopf Residence, an independent living facility for adults with mental challenges. Shelagh travelled extensively and particularly loved Scotland and France but in her last years she found happiness here at home, with Paul, her family and his. We will sorely miss her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Maitland B. Steinkopf Residence, Suite 9-213 St. Mary's Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2H 1J2 or to St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Fund, 409 Tache, Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6. Memorial Service was held Wednesday, March 27 at 7:00 p.m., with Shelagh's cousin Rev. Deacon John Walsh presiding. THOMSON "IN THE PARK" 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com

The world lost a great person with your passing but heaven's animals gained a great and loving friend. I will miss you and regret that we didn't spend more time together. The last few times we got together was like we had never been apart. It was like "the good old days" again. Take care of all the horses and dogs up there. I will never forget you. Love you always my dear friend. - Posted by: Tracy Stahl (Friend) on: Mar 28, 2013

I remember fondly...a glow, your kindness, and gentle humour. I'm reminded with this mourning...of a fine, artistic and beauty-filled spirit, of a spring election some forty years ago, of a blue step van with loads of coffee...early morning laughs...and 'looking for Arnold' My love and prayers are with all of you. - Posted by: Chris Bromley (Friend) on: Mar 28, 2013

Although it has been decades since I was last in touch with her, I was very saddened to hear of her passing. We were great friends in our youth, and I have the fondest memories of her. Shelagh was always the life at any gathering, and was a great beauty, always surrounded by an army of friends. Condolences to Elizabeth and the extended family. - Posted by: Doug Mcclelland (Old friend) on: Mar 27, 2013

This world truly lost a wonderful person. I will miss our East Indian lunches and our chats about your dog rescues and my cat rescues. Your very positive attitude towards everything is something I will always remember. And I can still hear your contagious laugh. RIP my friend. - Posted by: Diane Houston (Friend) on: Mar 26, 2013
