He is survived by daughter Margaret, son-inlaw Jim and granddaughter Tracey, son David, grandsons Rick, Evan and Sean, brother Kenro (Chieko) of Toronto, sister Harue of Japan, sister-in-law Nori of Toronto, as well as many nieces and nephews. George is predeceased by his wife Kazuko, father Kamakichi, mother Shizu, brothers Masuo (Shigeko), Jim (Irene), Reo, sister Yoshie, cousin Bobbie and daughter-in-law Nim. Dad was born in Vancouver, BC (Strawberry Hill). Then he was relocated with his family to Manitoba during the Second World War. He married Kazuko in 1958. He worked as a finishing carpenter with Suzuki Bros. until his retirement in 1987. His main hobby was collecting rocks and minerals (rock hounding). He would cut, polish, bake and create jewellery, coasters, etc. He also did some digging in search for Selenite crystals in the Manitoba Floodway. Became a member of the Winnipeg Rock and Mineral Club. His second hobby was gardening, where he had a green thumb for growing tomatoes, snow peas and cucumbers. Was a member of the Manitoba Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre Horizon Club. The family would like to thank the HSC D3 and D2 wards, Occupational Care, Home Care for their compassion, kindness and support. We could not have looked after our father alone. Heartfelt thanks go to Reverend and Mrs. Masaki, to our family and many friends who supported our father in many ways. When I was a little girl I would always look forward to the church bizarres. I would always rush to George"s table and spend the entire time going through all his rocks. I would go home with bags full. He was always so friendly and loved talking about the rocks. My condolences to the family. - Posted by: Elisha Dahl (chruch) on: Mar 30, 2013

"George and our family go a long way back . . . back to the days of Strawberry Hill, as New Westminster, B.C. was known to them. The Nagasakas were established in this farming community of many Japanese families. They were very welcoming to the Suzuki’s who were living in an isolated area near Hope and Chilliwack. George's skills as a carpenter were valued for many years by Suzuki Brothers and his workmanship was always and still is being appreciated in the homes he helped build. Our families continue to be connected through the marriage of Jim and Margaret Suzuki, and their daughter, Tracey. Our heartfelt condolences extend to them at this time.
