ISABELLE (JUNE) BALL Peacefully, on Saturday, March 16, 2013, June Ball (nee Young) passed away at Riverview Health Center in her 89th year. She was predeceased by her husband Frank Edward Ball, brothers Vincent, Earle and Larry, and her parents Lawrence and Florence Young. June leaves to mourn her passing, her sons; Kenneth (Margaret), Allan (Susan) and Brian, and six grandchildren - her greatest joys - Alanna (Nathan) Isaak, Ryan (Kristin) Ball, GayleAnne (Christopher) Meuleman, Melanie (Timothy) Poole, Lindsay (Ashish) Ball, and Christopher (Kaitlin) Ball, and great-grandchildren; Aeben and Talia Isaak, Justin Poole, Ethan and Kyle Ball; and Brandon Meuleman, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends in Canada and abroad. June was born in Winnipeg on June 3, 1924, and was raised, and lived most of her life in the Riverview Area of Fort Rouge. She attended Riverview Elementary School and Kelvin High School. She worked at the Manitoba Pool Elevators for five years prior to her marriage to Frank in 1947. June and Frank settled in Riverview, where they raised their three sons. When her sons were in their teens, she did volunteer work for UNICEF. She then worked part time at the Bay for 14 years, retiring in 1986. She then did volunteer work at the Manitoba Society of Seniors, enjoying over 18 years with the staff and volunteers, and taking and guiding many bus tours in the US and Canada. June also did ushering at the Manitoba Theatre Centre with her good friends June Chatterley, Doreen Lowry and Helen Coulter. She was a member of Rosedale (Churchill Park) United Church U.C.W. and Unit 3. She and Frank traveled extensively throughout Canada, the United States, Europe, Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand. She enjoyed planning for her trips as much as taking them. June also loved to have the family over for Sunday dinners and summer barbecues, and would entertain guests anytime she had the chance. A memorial service will be held at Churchill Park United Church, 525 Beresford Ave, Winnipeg on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. A family interment will take place at Brookside Cemetery. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the dedicated staff of Vista Park Lodge, Riverview Health Centre (C1), for their care, comfort and compassion over the last few years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
