JUNE INGLIS June Staunton Inglis (nee Dale) died peacefully at Victoria Hospital on March 26, in her hundredth year. She is survived by her sons Dale (Janet) with grandsons Richard (Christine) and Patrick (Katie), and great-grandchildren Emil, Sabine, Solomon and Joshua, and Bruce (Janine) with Arel (Troy), Andrew (Molly) and Saige. Her husband Bill predeceased her in 1997. June was born on June 14, 1913 at Glenboro, Manitoba, the daughter of John T Dale and Adeline (nee Dunne). She was predeceased by her sisters Violet and Ina and her brothers Austin and Maurice. She attended Mimir School near Glenboro. She graduated from Normal school in Winnipeg and subsequently taught at schools in Alonsa, McCreary, Mulvey Hill, Starbuck, West Kildonan and Assiniboine. She met her future husband, Bill Inglis, in 1943 and they were married in 1945. After her marriage she pursued a career as a kindergarten teacher, first in her own home, then at Cecil Rhodes School, Weston School, Clifton School and Carpathia School. She retired in 1977, Bill having retired in 1972. In 1976 June and Bill wrote and published "The Autobiography of Mrs. J.T. Dale" for Adeline Dale's hundredth birthday. They were both extremely active at St. James United Church. June served in the Women's Auxiliary and then the UCW. Bill was in the AOTS and an elder of the church. June remained active in the church until 2006. June was a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher who thoroughly enjoyed every minute with her young pupils. She brought a similar dedication and enthusiasm to her work at United Church, where she and Bill were stalwart members. She travelled extensively with Bill, including visits to Dale and his family in England and a trip to Ireland after Bill's death to meet her cousins. This characteristic dedication and enthusiasm, not to mention her unflagging energy and tireless activity on the domestic front, were much to the benefit of her family. She was a splendid hostess and highly amusing raconteur. June was a wonderful mother (and mother-in-law), grandmother and great-grandmother, much loved and much missed. She radiated a positive energy which lit up the lives of all those around her. A special thanks to the staff of Misericordia Place for all their care and affection in the last years of June's life. A memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue on June 14, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. What a great loss to the world. June Inglis and her late husband were two of the most dedicated, kind and loving people I have been privileged to meet. June was a strong supporter of St. James United Church, along with my late mother-in-law, Lucille Carlyle. As such June taught Sunday school and exposed a son and daughter of mine to her smiles, warmth and message. For above all she was a practising Christian, a believer whose courageous, positive outlook on life helped many along the way. One of a rare and disappearing breed. She will be missed, but after the mourning comes the morning. She will be the first to declare it a wonderful new day. Thoughts with Janet and Dale and Bruce. It was a privilege to know June and to taste her dainties: Peter CG. - Posted by: Peter Carlyle-Gordge (friend and friend of her son Dale.) on: Apr 15, 2013

June was a wonderful mother-in-law – she even liked my cooking! She was also a very good friend to my parents. She had a wide-ranging intellectual curiosity; we shared and discussed books on a variety of topics, everything from spirituality to children’s literature. A dear, charming lady who will be greatly missed by many people. - Posted by: Janet (Daughter-in-law) on: Apr 04, 2013

I had Ms. Inglis as a grade 5 teacher at Weston School. I remember being in her class and watering her plants that were in the classroom. I will always remember her warmth and patience. I am happy to hear she had a wonderful life! - Posted by: Diane McKay (Struc) (Former student) on: Apr 03, 2013

Mrs. Inglis was my very first teacher in Weston School in 1967. I loved going to kindergarten because of her. She made us feel so loved and I speak fondly of her when thinking about those Weston School days. Many years layer she taught a nephew of mine at Cecil Rhodes Elementary School. So many generations of families were lucky to have her in their lives. - Posted by: Barb Crate-Shapiro (Former Student) on: Apr 02, 2013

We should all live life like June did. Ever enthusiastic. Ever positive. Ever thoughtful and kind. Ever in the now, not the past. Ever dedicated to her interests and causes. An amazing, wonderful woman and friend, my life has been greatly blessed by knowing her. Good bye June. You are on a new adventure now. I know you'll embrace it, just as you embraced this life. With gusto and a big heart. - Posted by: Jim Pask (Family) on: Apr 01, 2013

June never failed to astonish me. I remember, when she was well in to her '90s, her enthusiastic interest in computers and nano-technology! She rarely looked back, but continued to see the world afresh and look forward. She was truly an interesting woman, and a person who was interested IN just about everything. - Posted by: Cathy Carlyle (Mother-in-law of my cousin, Janet) on: Mar 31, 2013

I will miss June’s loving nature, her beautiful smile, and her warm laughter. June plentifully shared these qualities without discrimination to all whom she encountered. June was an incredible role model for creating a healthful and fulfilling life for me and my family. “Whatever I have tried to do in life, I have tried with all my heart to do it well; whatever I have devoted myself to, I have devoted myself completely; in great aims and in small I have always thoroughly been in earnest.” Charles Dickens - Posted by: Arel Murphy () on: Mar 31, 2013
