RONALD HAMELIN JR. It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Ronald Hamelin Jr. on March 29, 2013 in Calgary at the age of 50 years. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten by his mother Stella, father Ronald Sr. and brother Gilles, all of Stettler, AB; sister Shannon Moneo (Mitch), niece Savannah Moneo, nephew Matt Moneo, of Victoria, BC, very close friend Natalie Kerpelman of Frederick, Maryland; and many aunts, uncles and cousins across Western Canada. Ron was predeceased by his grandparents Nicholas and Mary Ogibowski and Alexander and Corona Hamelin, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. Ron was born in Winnipeg and grew up in many communities across Western Canada. As an adult, he settled in Alberta. Ron was versatile, working at various jobs throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta. He did everything from heavy equipment operation and truck-driving to being an arborist. Ron also spent time on the rodeo circuit and served with the Canadian Armed Forces. Ron loved horses, for several years owning his beloved Yankin and Crankin. He took pleasure in visits to his parents' home where he loved to discuss current events with his father and brother and enjoyed his mother's home-cooked meals. He also treasured trips to Maryland where he and Natalie spent many hours visiting Civil War sites, eating the wonderful East Coast seafood and visiting a special grotto. Ron was a big man with a soft heart who lived his life with a very strong faith, honourable morals and on his own terms. We will miss him so much. A Memorial Service will be held in July 2013 in Stettler, AB.
