Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIVIAN (WASYLYNA) SENIUK June 21, 1921 - April 2, 2013 On April 2, 2013, our beloved mother, Nana, Gramma, GrandNana, Vivian (Wasylayna) Seniuk, traveled to heaven to join her long-missed husband, Steve, our Gigi (passed December 1992). She was our hero, fiercely loyal to family, the matriarch of our family, and the best perogie and holopchi-maker bar none. She will be forever missed. She has left to join her treasured parents and her sister, Anne from the Ukraine, her parents-in-law, her brother-in-law, William, and her cherished daughter-in-law, Carmen. Left to carry on her valued legacy is her cherished family: sons, Stephen (Winnipeg) and John (Canmore), her daughter-in-law, Evelyn, grandchildren Michael (Ruth), Jillian ("Nazir"), Jackie (Mark), Thomas (Elena), and Derek (Candice), and her great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Michael, Isabel, Jaxon, and Grady. She is also survived by her brother, John, nieces and their families in the Ukraine, her sister-in-law, Ann, (Winnipeg), and her nieces and nephews and their families. Born on June 21, 1921, Vivian married Stefan Seniuk in June 1936 in the Ukraine, and immigrated to Canada in 1938, with her husband, his brother and wife, and their parents. They lived in Hythe, AB, for 11 years, and then moved to their permanent home in Winnipeg in 1949. She worked side-by-side with her husband as they built their family business, working several factory jobs, gardening, cooking, creating beautiful needlepoint, and knitting countless sweaters and scarves for her children and grandchildren. She and her husband established a life of security and love, providing a solid foundation on which the next generation thrived. Vivian was a hard-working, wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She provided love and support for her family, advised and inspired us all, and was always there for us through our joys and sorrows. She loved and lived for her family. In keeping with Vivian's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family interment will take place at a later date. The family wishes to thank the staff on the Cornish sixth floor at the Misericordia Hospital for their compassionate care and respect of Vivian for the past year, and of her and her family during her passing.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

I have many wonderful memories of visiting Auntie Vivian and Uncle Steve with my parents Harry and Vera Seniuk along with my brother Ron when growing up. Mushroom and blueberry picking and going to the beach were some activities we did together, other than just visiting. What a coincidence that Auntie Vivian and my mom Vera were considered by their immediate families to be the best pyrohy and holupchi makers and that they were both the family matriarchs dying weeks apart. Mom passed on March 12th, 2013 and her service was on the 30th. My condolences to Stevie and Johnnie (as they were called when we were growing up) and their families. You will have wonderful memories of Auntie Vivian that will be with you forever, just as all that knew her.
