BEATRICE LEIGH (nee BEATON) December 10, 1919 - April 1, 2013 Surrounded by her family, Beatrice passed away at Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg on April 1, 2013. Beatrice was born on December 10, 1919, in Parkdale, MB. She was one of 11 children born to Alma Grace (nee Cromartie) and William Beaton. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, John William Leigh in 1995, by her mother in 1969, and her father in 1947. Beatrice was also predeceased by her siblings Clarence, Clifford, Wilfred, George, Grace, Alma, Edith, and Myrtle. Her memory will be cherished by her remaining sisters Geraldine Moodie (Gordon), Georgina Wasio and her brother-in-law Dan Greening. She will be missed by her children Janice Knutson (Gerry), Darlene Taggart (Alex), Terrance Leigh (Darleen) and Glenda Leigh. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Craig Giesbrecht (Laura), Lindsey Taggart (Jean-Guy), Cheryl Ward (J.W.), Christina Moore (Chris), Terry Leigh, Janel Aquin (Terance), and Jason Aquin. She also had eleven great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Joshua, Brennen, Holden, Zavier, Jessica, Jonathan, Jordan, Tyler, Emily, and Logan and one great-great-grandchild, Noah. As a child, Beatrice grew up in a large family in St. Andrews, MB. She spent her adult life in Morse Place until 2007. Many of her neighbors there became lifelong friends. She loved owning her own home and dinners were always the best served there. She loved her garden and her lilies and enjoyed knitting and sewing. Beatrice's life revolved around her family, and she was happiest when she was surrounded by them. Summer's spent in Gimli with her siblings, and later with her children and grandchildren held a special place in her heart. In her later years, Beatrice retired to Siglavik, living with Janice and Gerry, and loved to watch the water there. Cremation has taken place. The family plans an informal service in June at St. Andrews Anglican Church. "So rest now our beautiful Nanny. We will never forget how much you've done. So until our hands meet yours again, sleep now in the sun." If so desired, a donation may be made in Beatrice's memory to Old St. Andrews on the Red, 3 St. Andrews Road, St. Andrews, MB, R1A 2Y4. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
