Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryESTELLE ROITMAN April 23, 1932 - March 20, 2013 Sadly, we announce the passing of Estelle (Boomy) Roitman on March 20, 2013, beloved wife of Sam Roitman, loving mother of Debby (Martin) Bricker, Lesley (Laurie) Goldberg, Harriet (Martin) Glazer, devoted grandmother to David, Ivy, Rachel, Mikaela, Matthew, Ryan and Tali, and special aunt to Sheila and Arie Perlmutter. Boomy was predeceased by parents Dora and Harry Rosen, in-laws Rachel and David Roitman, sisters Thelma Perlmutter, Betty Baizer and Shirley Abramson, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Chinney Perlmutter, Faye and Chuck Roitman and Simmy and Abe Stoller She is survived by sister-in-law and brother-in-law Belle and Oscar Antel, brother-in-law Edward Baizer of Los Angeles as well as many dear nieces and nephews. Boomy was born in Winnipeg and attended William Whyte, Machray and St. John's High Schools. At the latter, she participated in the operettas and played on the women's basketball team. As a member of the "Gabalot" group, she enjoyed their friendship and many reunions. Being very creative, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening, decoupage, sewing, cooking and baking. She was an avid reader who also loved opera, classical music and ballet. Boomy met Sam at a wedding in December 1952 and they were married in February 1954. Boomy's husband and her daughters were the center of her universe. She was a protective wife and a doting mother who always put her family's needs ahead of hers. Once the grandchildren arrived, they became her greatest pleasure. Her seven grandchildren brought her much joy and she was proud of all their achievements. Boomy spent the last year and nine months at the Simkin Centre. Thank you to the nurses, nurses aides and orderlies with a very special thank you to Roma for her care, love and support. Funeral services were held on Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue with interment at the Shaarey Zedek Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Laurie Goldberg, Martin Glazer, David Bricker, Matthew Goldberg, Ryan Glazer and Arie Perlmutter. Honorary pallbearers were Martin Bricker and Oscar Antel. We would like to extend a very special thank you to Rabbi Green. Those wishing to do so may make a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association or charity of your choice.
