Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJUDY MCKAY (nee GIROUX) June 19, 1923 - April 2, 2013 It is with great sadness that our family announces the sudden passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 in Calgary at the age of 89. Judy was predeceased by her loving husband Paul (Spud), grandson Dana McKay and daughter-in-law Mary McKay. Judy grew up in Portage Du Fort and as a young woman moved to Ottawa to work and there she met the love of her life, Paul McKay. They were married on January 4, 1945 and settled on Cote Street in St. Boniface to raise their family of four children. Judy was very proud of all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Judy worked at The Bay credit office in Winnipeg for many years until Ma and Pa decided to retire to Calgary in 1985. Judy enjoyed hiking, cross-country skiing, weekly card games, volunteering at the food bank and helping children with reading. Judy and Spud enjoyed weekends at their cottage near Beausejour and after moving to Calgary spent their spare time in the beautiful mountains they both loved. Judy leaves to mourn her loss four children and their families: Glen (Reta) McKay, Carole (Clark) Sinnott, Rick McKay and Tim (Liz) McKay; grandchildren: Shauna (Blair) Burke and Michelle McKay, Kerry (Brian) Babiuk, Lisa (Craig) Rowbotham, Shane McKay, Travis (Mandy) McKay, Colin McKay, Lindsay McKay (Scott Shaw) and Garrett McKay; and great-grandchildren: Olivia, Bhreagh and Brendan Burke, Alex and Matt Babiuk, Naomi Rowbotham, Riley McKay, Micah and Storm Shaw. "Granny K" will be greatly missed by all her family, relatives and many friends and neighbours both in Calgary and Winnipeg. Rest in Peace Mom. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at McInnis & Holloway Crowfoot Chapel in Calgary on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.
