DAVID (CHIPS) CHARLES ADAMS David "Chips" Adams was born on May 21, 1934 in Brandon, MB. He was the eldest son of Rose (Stritz) and Charlie Adams. David passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family on April 3, 2013 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. David is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nora (Slevin); their three sons, David (Kathy), Mark (Sandi), Michael (Cindy); grandchildren Bradley (Val), Courtney, Troy and Trent Adams, Kevin and Michael (Kyleen) Mallin; brother Larry (Randy); numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Rose and Charlie Adams and his favorite aunt, Lillian Adams. Chips was born and raised in Brandon, MB where his schooling and sporting activities started. He was actively involved in hockey and baseball in his early years, playing with the Brandon Wheat Kings and Brandon Cloverleafs. Both of these teams were a source of pride in his later years because many of the long standing relationships with teammates continued. In 1959 he and Nora relocated to Winnipeg to start a new chapter in their life together. He established his career in the accounting profession which he continued up to his final weeks. Chips' love of sport never waned. He was an avid fan of all three boys' endeavours which carried through to his grandchildren both in sports and everyday life. Chipper was an awesome dad and grandpa! Thank you to all of our family friends for the numerous calls and visits during his final days. Also, thank you to all the doctors and nurses who were instrumental for his care and comfort. A celebration of Chips' life will take place on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Southwood Golf and Country Club (new location), 80 Rue de Monastere, St. Norbert, Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3.

  • I was sorry to see the notice about Dave. I met Chips when I started working at Tara Ford in 1981. He was a great person and really taught me all I know about working in a Dealership. He was always willing and eager to share his knowledge. Chips always had a smile and jokes to share with everyone. Many years later Chip came to recruit me back to to Tara Ford but this time the roles were reversed and I was the Manager and he did accounts receivable and Leasing. Chips never made this awkward and it was like old times working together again. I was at 2 of Chips retirements from the Dealership. I use to tease him that we would keep the gifts and announcements so that we could use them for a 3rd retirement. My thoughts and prayers go out to Nora and Family. - Posted by: Karen Iverson (Friend) on: Apr 08, 2013

  • As a follower of junior hockey in the early '50s I knew of Chips as a good player on Brandon teams that played against my favorite team of that time, Winnipeg Monarchs. It wasn't until many years later in the 1990's that I became acquainted with Chips and a friendship developed. Chips was a great person...friendly and genuinely interested in what others were doing. I found Chips to be genuine as a person and he had a great sense of humour. I will miss his friendly presence. My condolences to Nora and all the Adams family! - Posted by: John Rendall (Friend) on: Apr 06, 2013
