GLADYS STODDART (nee SMITH) 1918 - 2013 After a happy, love-filled life Gladys Stoddart, of Calgary, AB, has left the aches and pains that dominated her last few years and has joined her beloved husband Frank who predeceased her in 1988. Gladys will be lovingly remembered by her son John and his wife Leslie; as well as her five grandchildren, Katherine, Kirsten, Scott, Megan and Josh and their spouses Bob, Pat, Kathy and Amelia. "Grannie" will be missed by her 12 great-grandchildren, Jack, Hanna, Maya, Clare, Thomas, Lilah, Max, Tybalt, Ruthie, Charlie, Frankie and Alice. She was very close to her nieces and nephews and will be missed by Gaylene Stott, Triss Bubbs, Kent (Gerry) Bubbs, Jim (Sherry) Parsons, Ron (Ginny) Smith, Shanon (Bill) McKibbin and Bob Parsons. The youngest and last of the Smith clan from Ridgeville, MB and Winnipeg, Gladys will again be with her parents, James and Laura Smith, her siblings and their spouses, Florence (Jack) Parsons, Peg (Bill) Bubbs, Bert (Kay) Smith, Sue (Ed) Davis, Jean (Frank) Lawrence, and Jim (Lexie) Smith. Gladys was born on a farm in Ridgeville, MB and was a young girl when the Smiths moved to Bannerman Avenue in Winnipeg where she grew up and married Frank in 1939. Frank and Gladys spent their married life in Winnipeg, especially in Ft. Garry where she was an avid golfer, curler and volunteer. She worked with Frank in several businesses, mostly home-based. She loved life and was always surrounded by her treasured family - either at home or at the cottage in Lake of the Woods. Gladys moved to Calgary in 2002 to be closer to her immediate family. A special thanks to Shanon for all the loving care she gave Auntie Glad in Winnipeg and to all the wonderful staff at Hillcrest Extendicare in Calgary. Family and friends will gather for a celebration of Gladys' life at Living Spirit United Church, Calgary AB.
