ELIZABETH MILDRED JONES (nee FORBES) December 31, 1930 - April 8, 2013 Peacefully on April 8, 2013, Betty Jones, aged 82 passed away at Concordia Hospital with her family at her side. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 62 years, Columbus, her daughters Leslie (Charles), Lorene (Ken), her sons Dennis (Debbie), Nelson (Carol), her grandchildren Allister, Amanda (Sean), Kaila (Matthew), Kelsey, Justin, Alysha, Delaney, Jordan, her great-grandchildren Aleah, Kadeem, Cadence, Myles, Anna and Noah, her brother-in-law Clifton Jones, and many nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her parents Charles and Elsie Forbes, brother Doug Forbes, sisters Helen Forbes, and Clara Kjear. In Mom's early years she was a dedicated Sunday School Teacher and active in the C.G.I.T. In her later years she became active with the Catholic Women's League and many prayer groups. Her faith took Mom and Dad to many countries including the Vatican, Israel, Egypt and Yugoslavia. Mom had a great love for the outdoors, including camping at Gull Lake, Falcon Lake and many years at the family cottage in Northwest Ontario. While raising four children Mom was a dedicated public servant with the Department of Veteran Affairs. Mom retired from the department in the position of Supervisor, Accounting. But Mom's greatest joy was her family. She was immensely proud of the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her most cherished moments were when her family would gather together to celebrate birthdays and special occasions. The family would like to thank Dr. Barker and the Home Care staff for the care they provided to Mom for many years. The family would also like to extend our gratitude for the compassionate care provided by Dr. Macek and the ICU staff at Concordia Hospital. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 505 Brewster St., Transcona, with Father J. Spyrka officiating. Viewing will commence one hour prior to Mass. A reception will follow in the church hall. A Private family interment to follow reception.
