WILLIAM (KEITH) COLE Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Keith passed away at Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg on Monday, April 8, 2013 following a lengthy illness. Keith will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 55 years, Beryl (nee Harvey); two sons, Darrell and Dwayne; four grandchildren, Krysel, William, Rowan, and Logan; daughter-in-law Tracey; older brother, Fred and younger brother, Jim. On March 2, 1931 Keith was born in Elkhorn, MB to Frederick William Cole and Edythe Margaret Cole (nee Crosby). He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Linda (2010) and Betty (2012). Keith had a wonderful childhood, being raised on the farm near Reeder, MB, playing hockey, baseball, and horseback riding. He enjoyed hunting and trapping in the Miniota Valley, especially while on the back of his favourite horse, Prince. Later, while living in Yorkton, Keith particularly enjoyed hunting out of his cabin in Hudson Bay, SK. At age 22, Keith left his rural roots behind to seek employment. His early years were spent with architectural firms, starting with Storey & Marvin Architects in Regina, Munroe & Matthews Architects in Yorkton, Pratt, Lindgren, Snyder & Tomcej in Winnipeg, before settling with Transport Canada Airports Branch (Public Service). After Keith and his family settled in Winnipeg in 1969, he enjoyed curling and coaching hockey. It was during this time he designed and built the family home. Following his retirement in 1991 archery, hunting, and painting with the St. Vital Art Group, as well as spending time with his family, became his primary interests. A man who put family before all, Keith's dedication will never be forgotten by those he loved most. On Saturday, April 13, 2013 Keith's Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., in The United Church in Meadowood, 1111 Dakota Street. In lieu of flowers, donations in Keith's memory can be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6. • Mr. Cole was father to one of my closet friends Darrell. I have many fond memories of Mr. Cole and was always made to feel welcome in the wonderful home he built for his family. He had a dry sense of humour and I recall his love of painting and hunting. He was very proud of the accomplishments of his two sons - Darrell and Dwayne. Deepest condolences to all the family and especially to his wonderful wife Beryl who is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. Mr. Cole will be missed by all those fortunate enough to have known him. Murray & Vivian Sisler - Posted by: Murray Sisler (family friend) on: Apr 11, 2013
