SANDY (SANDRA) BERG (LATTER) December 8, 1958 - April 9, 2013 "A Friend To All" Surrounded by her husband, family and a few of her dearest friends, Sandy Berg passed from this life on Tuesday, April 9, 2013. Left to honour her memory are her loving husband Ralph, her mother Doris Latter, sisters, Carol Latter and Linda Block (Larry), her brother Gordon Latter (Jane), her adored nephews and nieces, Jordan (Alli and their children Keiran and Aislynn), Erin and Kellie, Sean and Lauren as well as her aunts, Beryl and Marilyn Lockhart, her cousins and extended family. Sandy was predeceased by her cherished father Jack Latter in August of 2012, also by her uncles, Doug and Ernie Lockhart and her cousin Calvin Lockhart - whose untimely passing in 1998 was so very deeply felt. Born the third daughter of Jack and Doris Latter, Sandy was a precocious, energetic addition to the Latter family, and with the years, added to those endearing qualities a sincere care for others, a joy of life that was unequaled and a memory for dates, places and people that we all came to rely on. Raised and educated in Lagos, Nigeria, Singapore and Winnipeg, Sandy always took full advantage and delight in the extra-curricular aspects of her education, and found her father's love of baseball to be a common joy they shared. In her career as an Importer at City Machinery and in various positions at the St. Boniface Hospital, Sandy made friends wherever she went, which for her was a life-long commitment. A friend of Sandy's was a friend for life, and the needs of her family and closest friends were always placed above her own. In her final role in Geriatric Psychiatry at the "St. B", she found fulfilling work and made even more fast friends. Her work ethic was unequalled, and her compassion for the patients she served was exemplified by her own commitment to treat those as she would want her own parents to be treated. Her happiness was made complete when she married Ralph in the summer of 2007. Ralph's health challenges, always a part of their life together, never diminished their obvious love and joy in one another. A true love match, Ralph and Sandy moved to their country haven and enjoyed six short but wonderful years together. Her beloved dog Chemo completed their family and brought joy to their lives together. Sandy and Ralph shared summer vacations at the family cottage, camping and fishing trips, and winter vacations to Mexico and Arizona, and many happy times with their large circle of friends. We are deeply indebted to nurse Tracey and her wonderful team and Doctors Yaffe, Letocki, Wong and Forsyth, along with all of the staff of 7AW at the St. Boniface Hospital for their dedicated and loving care of Sandy and of us. A service of remembrance will be held at Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Road, on Monday, April 15 at 3:00 p.m., the Reverend Dr. Gordon Taylor officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, a donation in her memory be made to CancerCare or a charity of your choice. "Grief never ends, but it changes. It is a passage, not a place to stay. The sense of loss must give way if we are to value the life that was lived."

She was my friend for several years even tho we had not met but knew each other through Ralph. I cared about her greatly and was so sad to see this just recently. I will pray for her and for Ralph. She gave me alot of joy in knowing her and we had planned to meet one day as I live in the States. So sorry Ralph for your loss, I wish I had known, I would have come up. When we first moved to Winnipeg back in 2003 we had the pleasure of being Sandy's neighbours.(I have to put dates in because that was one thing she was always on the ball with...DATES down to the hour and minute!) She always had a smile on her face and was always so friendly. Early on we all became great friends and Sandy and Ralph became our best friends. Sandy just loved life and was always up for anything. She loved playing cards, camping and listening to music. A song that pops into my head when I think of her is " Make My Life A Little Bit Brighter." This was one that she loved. I can truly say that anyone that knew Sandy can say that SHE made life a little bit brighter! We will always love you and miss you Sandy :) - Posted by: Darrel, Andrea & Vada Hebner (Coon & Bosco) ("the kids and grandaughter") on: Apr 15, 2013

Throughout our lifetimes, Sandy and I shared a large amount of "great" times. I am so sad that her life has been cut short, she had so much to give. She helped me during my struggles, I just wish I could have been there for her during hers. My prayers are with the Latter and Berg family now. - Posted by: Colleen Matthews (Long time friend) on: Apr 13, 2013
