LYNN MEHTA (nee FITTON) February 25, 1942 - April 10, 2013 With heartfelt sadness we regret to announce the passing of Lynn, who left us after a brief illness, with her family by her side. Left to cherish Lynn's memory are her husband, Dr. Ramesh Mehta; daughters, Karen (Andrew) Hiscott and Nicky Mehta (Grant Johnson); son Neil Mehta (Carol Honeybun); brother David (Pat) Fitton (Kitchener); and her cherished grandchildren Kate, Aidan, Max, Beck and Finn, all of Winnipeg. She will also be missed by her extended family and many friends throughout the world. Lynn was predeceased by her parents, Len and Marie Fitton. Lynn was a very devoted wife, caring mother to her children, a loving sister and a good friend to many. Her greatest joys in life came from being with her grandchildren, volunteering with friends and traveling to all areas of the world. She was always young at heart and had passions ranging from Coronation Street and the Winnipeg Jets to Def Leppard and live theatre. Born in Rochdale, England, she married and relocated her family to Winnipeg in search of new opportunities. Though her life was cut short early, she lived it to the fullest and wanted to be remembered through joyful memories and laughter instead of sadness and regret. A Celebration of Lynn's Life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Riel Room at Holiday Inn - Winnipeg Airport West, 2520 Portage Avenue. We would like to thank the many doctors and nurses at St. Boniface Hospital ICU who walked us through this difficult time and were incredibly supportive when we needed them the most. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lynn's memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada or the Manitoba Lung Association. Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • Dear Mum, I miss you so, so much. Every day I carry something of yours with me... a pair of earrings, a keychain, a handbag - and It reminds me of your love and how much you taught me. I honour your memory at home and at school each day, and hope you are proud. Your grandchildren are growing, thriving and turning into the most incredible young people. They have such incredible memories of times spent with you. Until we see each other again. xoxoxo - Posted by: Karen (daughter) on: Sep 26, 2014

  • I have just returned from extended winter vacation to learn of Lynn's passing. My heart is just broken. Lynn was always a pleasure to engage with at all the water classes. She treated everyone with dignity and respect. And what a sense of humour and zest for life! My sincere condolences to all of you for the loss of precious Lynn. - Posted by: Joanne Martin (friend from aquasize classes) on: Jun 07, 2013

  • Karen, Neil and Nicky - I returned home just yesterday to find this very sad news. You all must be devastated - losing your mother is just so awful - and in that way - how you must have longed to hug her. I hope your Dad will gradually be OK. I remember many long conversations with Lynn about life. She had insight, compassion and an ability to accept life - she brought you all up as wonderful kids with your Dad. My heart goes out to you.
