Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD (DON) E. LA BERGE PhD, MSc, BS Don passed away peacefully in Winnipeg, Manitoba on April 2, 2013 after a brief battle with cancer. Don was born on April 15, 1935 in Rossland, BC. He overcame, with the help of his mother and sisters, many challenges after losing his father and brother at an early age. Don went on to study successfully in Nelson, BC, Vancouver, BC and acquired his PhD in Madison, WI. Don exploited his skills at the laboratory bench and his writing skills to improve malt barley quality at the Canadian Grain Commission in Winnipeg for almost 30 years. Don is survived by his sons, Jim (Shelley) and David (Susan), four grandchildren, sister Louise (Bob), and was predeceased by his first wife Mary, and second wife Erika. Dons family and his many friends and colleagues in the malt barley industry will forever remember his skills in organizing a meeting, his love for beer, but most of all his generosity.

My sympathies to Jim and Dave and your families. I knew your Father during the time he was my sister Louise's partner. He was one of the most generous and kind people I have met and was especially kind to our parents, Emma and Louis Mourant during those years. All of our lives were enriched by knowing him. - Posted by: Candace Groberman (Friend) on: Apr 15, 2013

Dear David and Jim Your father was a special person whom I loved dearly. His obit in no way described his great accomplishments. I wish you could have been there at Finn's Pub of a very elite gathering who recognized your father's great contribution and his great humanity. - Posted by: Louise Townsend (companion) on: Apr 14, 2013

My sympathies to Jim and Dave and your families. I have many happy memories of the early days of Charleswood Soccer. Your parents did so much for their community. Sincerely, Jan Jones (late Bev Jones) - Posted by: Janice Jones (Friend) on: Apr 13, 2013
