KENNETH (KEN) TRISTRAM It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Kenneth (Ken) Tristram, at 10:20 a.m. on April 12, 2013, in his 69th year. Kenneth Gordon Tristram peacefully passed away with his best friend, his son Chad, at his side as always. Ken leaves to cherish his memory, his loving son Chad, daughter-in-law Karen and his grandson Joshua, his source of unending pride, inspiration and happiness. Ken also leaves to mourn his loss, sister Diane Simon, brother-in-law David Simon, nephews Dan Simon and Matt Simon (Anna) and their children, his aunt Mabel Brown, and cousin Ross Brown (Donna) and his family. Many friends with memories will also miss him. Ken is reunited with his parents Allan and Mildred Tristram, his aunt Elva, his Uncles Bud and George. He was also predeceased by friends where they are all basking in the sunshine together. Ken overcame many challenges in his life's journey. After recovering from childhood polio and a stroke in 2007 he always proved he could do anything he set his mind to. Ken's interests of hot rods, drag racing, bowling and doing "stuff" in the garage lead to a life time of projects and ideas to tackle. Ken's personality, uniqueness, style, sense of humour and loyalty always allowed him to develop great relationships with family, friends, neighbours, clients and co-workers. Most of his career was based in industrial sales and he loved the challenge that provided. He spent his entire life in St. James close to Sturgeon Creek and was always fundamentally attached to the area and the people. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to his special friend and health care aide Oscar, whose friendship, respect and professionalism played an integral part of Ken's successful dream of comfortably returning home for four and one half years after his stroke. Oscar's care was exemplary and with co-operation with his family he provided Ken with a great quality of life. The family would also like to acknowledge and thank the staff of GH3 at Health Sciences Centre. The nurses and aides were always a breath of fresh air and had Ken's best interests in mind. The professionalism, connection and compassion that his nurse Miranda had for Ken and the family was above and beyond right up until the morning of his passing. Her efforts were sincerely appreciated. Ken's loyalty and personality showed through in the friendships that went on uninterrupted in his good days and bad. Bob and Betty Harris are the best friends that knew him best. His friend Don Park never missed a weekly visit. They always shared their time unselfishly with Ken. Ken touched many lives, had many friends and fulfilled his dream to leave everyone with positive thoughts of who he was. A celebration of Ken's life will be held at St. Andrews Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave. on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 10:30 a.m., followed by a reception for stories, refreshments and fellowship in the St. Andrews Parish Hall immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Ken's memory to Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one's choice. We love you and May you rest in Peace - You are always with us and until we meet again - Good Vibrations!

Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • Dear Diane, Chad, Aunt Mable, and families. We just returned to Winnipeg after visiting with our grandchildren, and were saddened to hear of Ken's passing. He was a good friend and a great neighbour. He continually amazed us, at his ability to recover and overcome the crosses he carried throughout life. I remember wrestling with Ken on the way home from school one day. He won ... beaned me on the head with his arm cast! Ironically, it seems I was a slow learner at life's lessons, because his best friend Bob Harris, tried to teach me the same lesson a few years earlier, by beaning me on the head with his toy shovel! It makes sense that such good friends should use similar teaching methods...LOL! I consider myself truly blessed to be able to count both Ken and Bob as life long friends. Carol and I wish to express our sincere condolences to you all. - Posted by: Bruce & Carol Holland (Childhood Friend (Bruce) and Thompson Drive Neighbours ) on: May 17, 2013
