Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHYLLIS MELSTED On April 11, 2013, Phyllis Melsted passed away at the Grace Hospital at 84 years. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband Fred Melsted in 1992, her sister Evelyn Grant (James) and sister-in-law Kristen Stephensen (Albert), parents Evelyn and James Farquhar and granddogs Riley and Rex. She is survived by daughter Linda Melsted (Greg), nephews Dr. Sigurdur "Sig" Stephensen (Mary) of Columbus, Ohio, Jim Grant (Judy) of BC, Brian Grant (Karen), Gary Grant, Calvin Grant and and niece Darlene Mackie, granddogs Theo and Magic, as well as extended family and friends, including her very close friends Cheung, Katherine and Connie Wan. Phyllis was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on November 12, 1928 to Evelyn and James Farquhar. She worked for Peoples Jewellers where she met Fred, whom she married on November 20, 1954 at her parents' home. She later worked for Eatons in the lamp department until she had her daughter Linda. She was a successful homemaker after that. Phyllis was an active member of the Eatons retirement club and was involved in IODE for many dedicated years. She loved her flowers and gardening, as well as making crafts. She has many long time friends who will deeply miss her. She was a caring and giving person. She will be greatly missed by her beloved daughter Linda, who loved her Mom so much. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
