Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNINA MERLE SPECTOR (CROLL) Merle Spector passed away peacefully on April 7, 2013. She leaves to mourn her son, Wayne, her daughter and son-in-law Terri-Mae and Gary Wolodarsky, their children, Joel (Jennifer Teskey) and David Wolodarsky, three great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Noah and Jack, brothers-in-law Alvin Spector, Harry Goldstein and Harold Grammer, and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband, Manny Spector, brother and sister-in law, Kenny and Thelma Croll, and sisters-in-law Esther Goldstein, Loretta Grammer and Barbara Spector. Merle was born on May 19, 1926 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan to Rachael (nee Shinoff) and Norman Croll. She grew up in Yorkton, moved to Winnipeg for university, and married Manny at just 20 years old. They lived briefly in Yorkton, then in Watrous, Saskatchewan for 13 years, Saskatoon for one year and moved to Winnipeg in 1964. She was an athlete and painter in her youth, sorority girl and blind-date chairwoman in university, and an excellent dancer and bridge player in adulthood. She was fiercely independent, courageous, determined, loyal and witty. She was an elegant lady and a good friend. She was completely selfless. She loved her family with all her heart and did anything and everything to help them and care for them in whatever way she could. She was deeply loved and will be forever missed. Thanks to the health care professionals who supported her. The funeral was held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue with burial at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery.
