JOHN VANDERSTOEL B.A., B.ED., M.ED., PH.D 1933 - 2013 On Friday, April 19, 2013 at Grace Hospital, John Vanderstoel, aged 79 years of Winnipeg, MB passed away. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Marie (nee Keown) of Winnipeg, two daughters, one son and their families. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Longer to obituary to follow on Thursday. Marie, I'm so sorry to hear about John's (JV's) passing. I owe my career at UW to him - he took a chance hiring me in '84 and I'm still there. Mr. Vanderstoel taught me French in grades 11 and 12 at the Collegiate Division of what was then called United College (Wesley Hall). circa 1966 and 1967. I remember him fondly.
