CHRISTIAN (CHRIS) WILLIAM NELSON Christian (Chris) Nelson passed away suddenly at his home in Calgary, AB on Friday, April 19, 2013. Chris leaves his devoted girlfriend, Nirosha Balachandran, to mourn his passing. He will be remembered by his parents, Patricia Shaw of Qualicum Beach, BC and Rae (Arlene) Nelson of Weslaco, TX; brothers Trevor and Sheldon (Colleen) Nelson; sister Nicole (Dave Beaudoin) Nelson; nieces and nephews Chelsea Gibbons, Sacha, Chloe, Mackenzie, James and Thomas Nelson and Ella Nelson-Beaudoin; Nirosha's parents Jayanthi and Bala Balachandran as well as Nirosha's sister Jessica Balachandran of Sydney, Australia. Born on December 6, 1959, Chris grew up in Edmonton, AB and moved to Winnipeg, MB in 1981. A born entrepreneur, Chris started 4-12 Electronics with his brother, Sheldon. He went on to own and/or manage several other business ventures, including 8 Traxx Cabaret and the Hillside Marina. Chris always had a project on the go. He loved his cottage at Victoria Bay Estates and was a gracious host. His infamous "Tribal" parties became an annual event. Chris was very close to his dear friends, Mitch and Tarra Poirier and their children Dakota and Dawson Poirier and Dwight Ewanika, Susan Reid, Perry Sanchez, Darrel Sapieha and Mark Hofer. Seven years ago, he moved to Calgary and became involved in real estate and investing. While in Calgary, he found the love of his life, Nirosha. Chris was most at peace when he was outdoors either snowboarding, fishing, jet-skiing or boating. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 - 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen's Park Cemetery) on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Another service will be held at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to Ducks Unlimited, 3520 114 Ave. S.E., Calgary, AB T2Z 3V6 in Chris' memory.
