Date of Passing: Apr 28, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMANFRED LEIENDECKER It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Manfred, on April 28, 2013. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side, after a brief illness. He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 46 years, Dorothy, his son Klaus (Catherine) and the apple of his eye, his grandson Mathias. He will also be dearly missed by his day companion, Pax. Left to mourn his loss is his extended family, numerous relatives and friends. Manfred had a love of baking. As he grew older, his passion of baking carved a career path to teach young culinary students. He had a big heart and infectious laugh. When he wasn't teaching you would find him at his favourite spot, at the lake. Cremation has taken place and funeral services will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 400 Rouge Road on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. We would like to thank the staff at The Grace Hospital for their care, as well as the many visitors for their support and love. In lieu of flowers, donations in Manfred's memory could be made to Messiah Lutheran Memorial Fund, 400 Rouge Road.

This makes me sad. He was such a lovely man. I loved working with him in the bakeshop at Winnipeg Tech. He would always request me to come help him in there, because he knew I would help him get the job done. Your cheese buns were amazing!! Rest in Peace Mr. Leiendecker it was a pleasure to know you, and you're one of a kind!! - Posted by: Audrey (Former student @ Winnipeg Tech) on: Sep 25, 2021

I was taught in the 80;s by the incredible, irreplaceable Mr. Leiendecker, and wanted to pass along my deepest sympathies to his family, who will surely feel a loss at that wonderful man's loss. He made an incredible positive impact on so many young lives. May God bless him for his dedication to those of us lucky enough to have learned from him. So much more than just baking; but perspective and priorities as well. My deepest Thank You to Mr. Leiendecker. - Posted by: Cheryl C. (Former student) on: Sep 04, 2014

We will miss you. You were truly a dear friend and a gentleman." "We will miss Manfred's cheery smile and his sense of humor. Bless you and your family." It was great knowing him, it is too bad we won't be seeing him on Wednesdays. With great sympathy to the family. Manfred, Your presence will always be near, we thank you for that too. All the best to the family. Lovingly in remembrance we remember you." "Manfred will be missed at Golden West, we enjoyed his witty remarks and his jovial laughter" "Manfred often joked with another client and this bantering was very entertaining for everyone. Many chuckles with these two fellows." "One of the nicest gentlemen I've ever met." "I will miss his bear claws and growls during the exercise program." "Manfred taught my son 23 years ago. Now I met him personally and had the privilege of sharing my Wednesdays with him in the day program." "Manfred was a gentleman through and through. He was extremely knowledgeable and enlightened the rest of us in worldly matters. My fondest recent memory of Manfred was when I needed his help to decorate a cake for a client's birthday. Thanks to his patience and diiegence the cake became a work of art. The other clients and staff applauded his effort. After all, he was a Master Chef. Extending heartfelt Sympathy to family and friends." "I remember when I first met Manfred and Dorthy, his striking sense of humor was evident from the start. I had the privilege when Dorthy's mom was a resident with us. A number of years passed and our paths crossed again. Manfred has taught me perseverance, diligence, all things have a humorous side to them and most of all that every day MUST be enjoyed to the fullest. Manfred may you truly rest in peace ,our lives were certainly made better because of your place in them...Kate - Posted by: Kate Regnier () on: May 03, 2013

I have had the good fortune of knowing the Leiendeckers for almost of all my life (50 + years). My siblings and I affectionately call them . . . Onkel Manfred and Tante Dorothy . . . despite not being 'blood relatives'. I will fondly remember Onkel Manfred for his infectious laugh, his gentle demeanor, his passion for baking & cooking, his love for his family and caring nature. We extend our most sincere condolences to Tante Dorothy, Klaus, Catherine and Mathias and hope you find comfort among your family, friends and cherished memories. - Posted by: Cornelia and Andrew Jackson (Friends) on: May 01, 2013

I never met Mr. Leiendecker but my son was in his baking classes about 23 years ago. His name came up many, many times over the years. The last time he spoke of him I had suggested that he try to look him up and tell him just how much of an impression he had left on him. Now there is no time but I am sure many young people will not forget him. He insisted on quality work from his students and he seems to have insisted on as much in himself. A good man and I am quite grateful that my son had such a role model. - Posted by: Kathryn Ross () on: Apr 30, 2013
