MARY JENNIE WIENS March 9, 1918 April 26, 2013 Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep at St. Norbert Personal Care Home at the age of 95. She was predeceased by her husband, George, in January, 1989 and also her brothers Abe, Henry, Jake and Dave. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Irene (John) Bowcott, Evie (Ed) Karalash, and Shirley Wiens; grandchildren April (Rick) Neufeld, Chris Bowcott, Judy (Randy) Burckhard, Steven (Diane) Karalash, Mandy (Cory) Toker, Amber (Rick) Kozminski and Colin (Mia) Olson; great-grandchildren Brett, Michael, Lyle, Tia, Jordan, Nicholas, Austin and Blake. Mom was born in Prince George, BC and moved to Manitoba with her parents at the age of two. Mom talked about working in Beresford Lake Hotel at age 17-18 to help her family. She loved the plane ride to the mine and being by the lake. Mom married dad July 4, 1940. They farmed until they moved to Winnipeg around 1948. Mom was then a housewife and mother. She loved to cook, bake, can, crochet, knit and embroider. Mom also loved to go on shopping trips to the States and shop til "we" dropped! We will miss you mom. We love you. Say "Hi" to dad. Rest in Peace and So Long. Many thanks to Dr. Miller and the staff at St. Norbert Personal Care Home for their wonderful care of mom. Mom's funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg with viewing at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of mom to CancerCare Manitoba or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
