REGINALD GEORGE HONEYBORNE Peacefully, on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Charleswood Care Centre, Reg Honeyborne passed away at the age of 92 years. Reg was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years Norah and his daughter Brenda. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Janet (Peter) and son Reg (Elizabeth), grandchildren: Norah (Derek), Danny, William (Cheryl), Sean (Christina), Symon (Vanessa), Mason, Jacob, great-grandchildren: Brenda, Jerry, Maggie, Carter and Madison plus four more on the way! Born in Weymouth, England on May 4, 1920 he started full time work at the age of fourteen with the Dr. Scholls shoe factory in London, At the age of 21 he joined the RAF, and trained pilots in Saskatchewan, flying in open cockpit Tiger moths. Reg then served in Bomber Command flying Lancasters during the Second World War, stationed in Italy and the Middle East. He met his bride Norah while in Leatherhead Hospital where she was a nurse and she brought him back to Canada to make their home in Winnipeg. He was works manager at Manitoba Bridge for 25 years and then Versatile Farm Equipment and New Flyer. Reg was past president of the Wartime Pilots and Observers Association and served as Most Wise Sovereign in the Khartum Pipes and Drums. He enjoyed time with the family at their cabin in Matlock and in his senior years painting wildlife with the St. James Art Club. His paintings grace many homes and offices and will become priceless now he has passed. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be later in June at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. A special thanks to the nurses and aides at Charleswood Care for the kind care given to Reg.
