ELSIE (CORNELIA) ZUBRACK (nee HRYSAK) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother and grandmother on May 1, 2013 at Victoria General Hospital. Elsie was born on March 15, 1918 in Rossburn, Manitoba. She was the fourth child of the late Wasyl and Mary Hrysak. Raised on a farm near Vista, Manitoba, she enjoyed country life while attending Islay School. In 1942 she married Joseph Zubrack and farmed in the Oakburn area. In 1960 they relocated to Vista and continued farming until 1980, when they moved to Winnipeg for their retirement. Elsie was a member of the Oakburn St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Orthodox Church until her passing. She was also an active member of the Ukrainian Women's Association for many years. She had a great love for gardening, baking, card playing, cross-stitching, and always keeping active. Elsie was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1992, sisters Jessie Mackedenski, Margaret Wytrychowski, and brothers Lorne and Matt. Left to cherish her memory are her son Don, daughter-in-law Diane, granddaughter Kristy (John) Neuert, sisters Stella Kwiatkowski and Ann Waytowich, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service to be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Oakburn, Manitoba at 11:00 a.m. with V. Rev. Michael Skrumeda officiating. A special thanks to the staff at Windsor Park Manor where Elsie resided since 2010. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Oakburn, Manitoba, or a charity of your choice. Rae's Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
