Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHALINA OSTAFICHUK It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Halina (Eileen) Ostafichuk (nee Parfeniuk) on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the age of 83 years. Halina (Baba) will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband Michael; three children Jeff, Cheryl, Susan (Robert); five grandchildren, Aaron, Adam, Jennifer, Angela, Kristen; great-grandson John, and many friends she made over the years. She was predeceased by her parents Sergie and Fotyna Parfeniuk (Mironiuk). On July 19, 1929, Halina was born in Malin, Poland. She married her husband Michael on June 13, 1953 in Winnipeg at St. John's Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church. Together they celebrated 59 years of love and friendship. Mom enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, reading, and spending time with her family. One of her favourite pastimes was making dill pickles which we will sorely miss. Mom and Dad enjoyed many happy years at their cottage at Spruce Bay. Fond memories of fun-filled family gatherings at home will forever be treasured. At Halina's request there will be no Funeral Service. A private family interment will take place at Brookside Cemetery. Sincere thanks to the ER staff at Health Sciences Centre and Grace Hospital. A special thank you to Dr. Wei Li, Dr. Tanya Sehgal, and the nurses and staff on third floor North at Grace Hospital for their kindness and compassion during this difficult time. Special thanks to the entire staff and residents of Parkview Place Personal Care Home where Mom and Dad have resided for the past year. A special thank you to all the nurses and staff on the 9th floor for their continued love and kindness they have shown Mom (Baba) over the past year. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Halina can be made to a charity of choice. Wojcik's Funeral Home & Crematorium, 2157 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, 204-897-4665, wojciksfuneralchapel.com

A Mother's love is something that no on can explain, It is made of deep devotion and of sacrifice and pain, It is endless and unselfish and enduring come what may For nothing can destroy it or take that love away . . . It is patient and forgiving when all others are forsaking, And it never fails or falters even though the heart is breaking . . . It believes beyond believing when the world around condemns, And it glows with all the beauty of the rarest, brightest gems . . . It is far beyond defining, it defies all explanation, And it still remains a secret like the mysteries of creation . . . A many splendored miracle man cannot understand And another wondrous evidence of God's tender guiding hand Thank you Mom, for all you taught me, the love that you gave me and the legacy you left me... My heart aches in sadness and secret tears still flow, what it meant to lose you, no one will ever know. Though I hurt because you are not physically here with me now, I can have peace of mind knowing that you are with the Lord. And, someday, we will be forever together, never to be parted again. I will always love you and you will always be in my heart. In memory of my Mom who passed away April 27,2013 - Posted by: Susan (Daughter) on: May 04, 2013

My sympathy to Mike and all your family. Eileen's picture brought back many memories of our good times playing bridge together years ago. She was always so much fun to be around (and made the best lunches!!). I still have a candle holder on display which she & Mike gave to Grant and I on your 25th wedding anniversary in 1982. Thanks for the wonderful memories Eileen .... may you rest in peace. Lib - Posted by: Lib Downes (fellow bridge player from "way back when") on: May 04, 2013
