VERNON ROBERT HULME Peacefully, after a day out with his beloved wife Myrtha of 49 years; it is with sadness that we announce the passing of Vern Hulme, on Thursday, May 2, 2013. A resident of Winnipeg since 1959, Vern was 81 years old. He is survived by his wife Myrtha; daughter Cathy (Dave) Greenhalgh; grandson Justin; and dear family and friends. Retired sixteen years, Vern had been a long haul transport driver for many years but was forced to leave the highway due to a serious accident. He began working at the International Inn where he happily served for twenty-five years. On Tuesday, May 7, 2013 Vernon's Funeral Service will be held 1:00 p.m. in Cross Church, 1787 Logan Avenue at Keewatin Street, with Pastor Alan Duncalfe, Officiating. For those who wish, viewing will be held prior to the Service at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Portage Ave. Special thanks to Dr. Ian Maharaj for his wonderful care and dear friend, Nurse Linda Hebb. I just heard today about Vern's passing. I am so sorry to hear about it. Vern was a devoted husband & father to his family & a very caring friend to all who knew him. I worked with Myrtha many years ago, & still remember how generous they were to me when I needed a kitchen table years ago, they sold it to me at a very affordable price. Years later I was surprised to bump into them, having moved only 2 blocks away from them! Nice to get back in touch with them. My deepest condolences to Myrtha, Cathy and family, during this time of loss. I met Vern 38 years ago at the International Inn and worked with him until his retirement. Vern knew how to effortlessly WOW the guest which generated repeat business for the company. He was one of the most fun people to be around and effortlessly made everyone else have a good time. Well my friend (Kookamunga) you will be driving that Big Rig down the Highways in Heaven. Ralf and I will raise a glass to-night and recall all the fond memories. Till we meet again.. R.I.P.
