Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN GARY RICHARDSON February 25, 1932 May 3, 2013 Gary passed away peacefully with family by his side. He is survived by his companion of 30 years, Areen Mulder, daughters Cindy Wasylyk (Allen Sedo), Laura, Jane (Jim Graham), and son Kevin (Lynn McLeod), brother Errol of Victoria and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents John and Thelma Richardson and brother Wayne. Gary was born in Vancouver but his childhood was spent in Victoria. After retiring from his career as an actuary, he was able to spend his time enjoying his favourite pastimes. Having resided in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba he loved his trips through all of these provinces, exploring their history, although BC was always foremost in his heart. His library collection was immense and he always had a story to share with people he met. A private graveside service will take place at a later date. Gary's family would like to thank the Concordia Hospital ICU and all the special people on the third floor who provided such wonderful care. Our heartfelt thanks to the Rev. Amos Fehr for his tremendous support and guidance during this difficult time. Brian, Nellie, Tanis, and Rev. Linda Parsons, your visits and support of Dad and our family meant so much. You fought so hard for 17 days so that we could share more time. Rest in Peace now Dad. We will miss you so very much. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Concordia Foundation or to St. Philip's Anglican Church.

I met Mr. Richardson in 1975 while dating his lovely daughter Laura in high school. I remember him as an intelligent man with a keen, inquisitive mind. We met again briefly many years later and I could see that the years hadn't dimmed his kindness and bright personality. I hope time has eased the pain of his passing, my sincere condolences to his family. - Posted by: Mark Fritzler (friend from long ago) on: Jun 28, 2018

To Areen and family: Our sincere sympathy to you. You have lost a great companion. Those many stories and research jaunts have been a mainstay of a relationship that will leave a gap. May those great memories help in the healing that will come. Perhaps the stories need to be told for others to share? I'm now into Desktop publishing if that might be of interest to you, Areen. Gary we did not have a lot of time together but what we did mattered. It was my distinct pleasure to share this time with you and I learned so much in such a very short time. I will miss our visits. You have an amazing family and it is my honor to be a small part of it. Love always! - Posted by: Lynn McLeod (Daughter in Law) on: May 07, 2013
