LUCY MAY (LOU) JAMES Lucy May James (Lou) was born 1924 in Dufferin-Lisgar District, MB to John T. and Mary Fetterly (nee Allan) and passed away on Monday, May 6, 2013 in Kenora, ON. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Edward James, sisters Nellie, Peggy, Lillian, Annie and brother Bill. She leaves behind her daughters and their families; Judy McCallister (Irvin) and Donna Douglas (Jim); grandchildren Jessica and Christopher McCallister, great-granddaughter Kyiah; Bryan and Scott Douglas; sister-in-law Ruth (Ken) Veale of Hamilton, as well as many dear friends from North Kildonan. She was raised during the Depression and the fear of want never left. Lou joined the Army where she met and married the love of her life, Tommy James while stationed at Camp Borden, ON during the war. Tommy passed away in 1991 and the light went out and life, for her, was never the same. Mom was a doer. She taught Sunday School at North Kildonan United. She, with friend, Lucy LeGrand, began the 101st Brownie Pack out of Lord Kitchener School. She and Tommy enjoyed Square Dancing with best friends, Bruce and Helen James. They danced with the Go-phers, the Twirlers, and other groups, in jamborees, camporees in the rain, the snow and in the water just having fun. Mom worked at the Health Sciences Women's Pavilion for many years as a ward clerk. After Tommy died, she moved to the Serena Apts. In her early 80s, she took up bowling with Lesley LeGrand. When her health deteriorated in 2006 she moved to Pinecrest Home in Kenora. Many thanks to the many wonderful staff at Pinecrest Home in Kenora. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a graveside service on Monday, May 13, at 11:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB. Should anyone wish to donate on her behalf the Firefighters Burn Fund-MB. Division, 303 - 83 Garry Street Winnipeg, MB. R3C 4J9 or Pinecrest Home, 1220 Valley Drive, Kenora, ON P9N 2W7 would be good choices. KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson Hwy. 338-0331 Condolences may be sent to www.klassenfuneralhome.com
