ANDREW FLEMING It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Andrew Fleming, on April 24, 2013 at the age of 61, after a lengthy battle with sepsis. Andrew is survived by his wife Sandra, children Jennifer (Aaron), Christopher (Jazmine) and Kelly, and 11 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Ronald and Elizabeth. Andrew was born in Yorkshire, England in 1952, he immigrated with his parents to Canada in 1957. Andrew joined the militia reserves for a short while and enjoyed reliving those stories from time to time. He worked as a heavy duty diesel mechanic for most of his life, taking retirement at age 50 and starting his own hydraulic business. He will be remembered as a friendly quick witted man who always had a joke or funny story ready to share. His love for his grand kids was obvious. He loved spending time with them. He was very close with his family, and will be greatly missed. Cremation has taken place. The family wishes wishes to thank the nurses in charge of his care at St. Boniface Hospital.

Andy was a wonderful and unique individual with a great sense of humour, terrific stories and a wide range of interests. I knew Andy from days beginning in elementary school, came to be the best man at his wedding to Sandy, but lost touch over the years following his move to St. Annes and the raising of our respective families. As kids we helped, (maybe not that much), his dad dig out the basement under their home on Bowman Avenue, played all manner of war games with the Kott brothers next door, chased down butterflies to mount and add to his extensive collection, entering and winning many science fairs. During our teen years we worked on many of the jeep vehicles he was to purchase, and with his dad built many experimental amplifiers, some that would be used in the various garage bands we were involved with at the time. Andy was a big fan of Clint Eastwood, had a passion for Zorba the Greek and a good stiff shot of Ozzo. Andy will be missed but certainly never forgotten, my memories are fond and endearing. He was a unique, warm and free spirited individual who was never shy of going against the grain. I will toast his memory with a good stiff shot of Ozzo. - Posted by: Jim Russell (Old Friend) on: May 15, 2013
