JOHN HENRY RUDD
Born: May 03, 1926
Date of Passing: May 02, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN HENRY RUDD May 3, 1926 - May 2, 2013 Dad passed peacefully at home. He was predeceased by his loving wife Elsie of 54 years. Grieving his loss are his daughters Diane Berezay (Gord), Joanne Nordlund (Ernie), Marlene Lusty (Pat), Kathie Rudd, granddaughters Mercedes, Megan, Katelyn, and sister Dorothy French. Born and raised in East Kildonan, he spent his childhood summers at their Grand Beach cottage. He loved the outdoors, fishing, duck hunting and most of all canoeing. He met the love of his life, Elsie Montgomery, at Grand Beach. From then on, they were inseparable. They bought his parents home on Kildonan Drive, where they raised their daughters. Dad followed in his father's footsteps and worked in the family business, JH Rudd Meters. He loved his job and working with his hands. In 1961 they purchased land in a remote area of Lake of the Woods. It was at the lake that they built their dream and spent their summers. Dad had an extensive music collection. Once electricity was available, the records were always playing and he could be heard whistling along. Dad was an accomplished chef, whether creating over a Coleman stove or the BBQ. After retiring, they lived at the lake for nearly 10 years, and then moved to Burnaby, BC for the next 16 years. Dad and Mum were avid travelers, holidaying yearly either by car or plane to various destinations. At his request there will be no service or funeral. Remember the good times.

We have so many fun and happy memories of your dad (and grandpa). -I can still smell his famous ribs wafting through the bush from your place to ours, and hear him whistling! Remember our big boat trip to Sioux Narrows all those years ago? We'll miss his emails and yearly visits. We are sure thinking about you guys, and pray you'll find comfort and peace through great memories and the caring of your old friends. - Posted by: Jackie Thornton (McDowell) (friend and lake neighbor) on: May 31, 2013

I am truly sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I hope he did not have to suffer. It is at these times that we start to notice how we feel in the light of day and dark of night. Be gentle to yourselves and your loved ones as you grieve. Hugs to you. I am thinking of you both and our old times at school. - Posted by: Jill Palmer nee McWhinney (school friends of Marlene and Kathie) on: May 11, 2013
