I am not sure if this is the same Mrs Joan MacLeod - if it is she was the best music teacher. I was a student of her so many years ago, I still have some of the books with her handwriting on it. She was like a grandmother. If this is the same Mrs Joan MacLeod that lived at 21 Mayfair place. - Posted by: Claudette (Student) on: Nov 10, 2024

Mrs. McLeod was my piano teacher for about five years, and how fortunate I was to have her influence in my life. She knew piano, classical music, composers, opera, instruments, orchestras, recordings and a host of other cultural knowledge that opened up my world. She introduced me to the magical works of Glen Gould. She coached me through music and theory exams, and prepared me for festivals - she even convinced me that playing piano duets with my brother would be fun - it was, when we weren't scrapping! She did this all with a gentle voice, a ready smile and great patience, in her piano room at her home. She also fed me fresh from the oven Johnny cake, the most delicious corn bread in the world. As my brother Ed said, "Mrs. McLeod made our worlds a better place to grow up and flourish in". My sincere sympathy and best wishes to Sheldon and Ann and all of Mrs. McLeod's family. - Posted by: Susan (Steer) LeBlanc (former piano student) on: Aug 23, 2013

I still remember sitting on the piano bench beside Mrs. McLeod at her house as she tried to pour music into my rather thick head when I was very young. That was more that 50 years ago...and my love of classical music started there...and still lives on to this day. The world is a better place because people like her passed through it and left their mark. She certainly made a hugely positive impression on my life...a debt I can never fully repay...and for which I thank her. My condolences to Sheldon and Ann. - Posted by: Ed [Marvin] Steer (Former pianos student) on: May 19, 2013
