Helen was born on March 22, 1934 in Victoria Beach, MB. She was an amazing woman with a tremendous amount of faith in God, and love for her family. She loved family gatherings for any occasion. She loved sewing and quilting, with special projects and gifts for her family as well as various community club and church raffles. In 2007 she received two first-place awards for her quilt entries in the Selkirk Fair, which led to an invitation to the Brandon Quilting Fair in 2008. She had a love for crossword puzzles with determination that she would do them in ink. Her favourite TV show was "Y & R", and she loved Victor Newman. She was a pillar of strength in the community volunteering many years with the PBCC, MMF, church activities, and other various things that needed to be done. She was proud to be one of the first fisher-women on Lake Winnipeg, and held her own fishing license for several years. She was full of wisdom in any aspect, and anyone who knew her looked up to her for guidance. She was our rock. I can't believe it's been over a year already Mom, it still feels like yesterday. I miss our conversations when we could just talk about whatever popped into our heads. I miss how I could confide in you. I miss the way you helped me cope with being so far away from everyone. I miss our laughs and tears we shared. I miss your voice and your hugs. Most of all, I miss you. But you're in a much better place with no pain nor suffering and I will be with you again, some day, until then. - Posted by: Sylvia (Daughter) on: May 20, 2014

So hard to believe we lost both you and sister Verna this past year Mom. You taught me a lot but I don't have the wisdom and knowledge you had. I miss our chats. It was so hard to let you go, knowing you are no longer suffering sees us all through. Till we meet again. Love you both so much. You are still my rock. Thanks for the strength. - Posted by: Yvonne (Daughter) on: Jun 07, 2013
