GEOFFREY GREEN 1947 - 2013 On May 12, 2013, peacefully at home, after a brief battle with cancer, Geoff passed away at the age of 65. He is survived by his best friend and companion Barb; brother Tim (Lynne); sister-in-law Judy; nieces Dee (Mark) and Tammy (Aaron). Also survived by nieces Lisa and Jaime (Amanda); nephew Trevor; their mother Julie; great-nephews Gavin, Cameron and Jakob, and great-niece Gracie. He was predeceased by his parents Ivan and Sylvia, his brother David, and his beloved cat Myste. Geoff spent his early years in Birch River, Manitoba and his adult life in Winnipeg. While growing up he curled competitively and always enjoyed watching the sport. Geoff had many fond memories of the Birch River area and leaves behind good friends there, especially his best friend Floyd who was at his side when he passed away. He graduated from the University of Winnipeg in 1989 with his B.A. and pursued many interests with much zeal. There was nothing he enjoyed more than a controversial debate on politics, world affairs or sports of any kind. His first love was Barb, then family and thirdly football, specifically the Green Bay Packers although on any given Sunday during football season the order could change. He will be remembered for his unpredictable sense of humour, his remarkable memory and keen mind for trivia. He was compassionate and sensitive and had a great love for animals. One of his simple pleasures was sitting and soaking up the sun, particularly on a Sunday afternoon enjoying a Goldeyes game. In spite of many challenges and what often seemed like insurmountable odds, he lived life to the fullest with incredible spirit and courage. Geoff was blessed with many wonderful friends and caregivers throughout his life. Thank you to Fokus staff, Health Sciences emergency and H4 staff, the Community Home Care nurses and the Palliative Care team who made it possible for him to pass away at home, as he wished. A very special thank you to Dr. Karen Ethans and to the friends and family who stood by our side the last few weeks. In lieu of flowers, if you so wish, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or the Canadian Paraplegic Association. Geoff was treasured by his family and will be very sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In accordance with Geoff's wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. This river flows from dark to light, and though my ship drifts from your sight, It doesn't mean the journey ends, It only means the river bends... - Enoch Powell Funeral Home & Crematorium 843 Sherbrook Street 204-774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca

We shared many wonderful times with Geoff and Barb- weiner roasts in St. Francois, Sargeant Sundae ice cream, the infamous trip to Stephenfield, Christmas dinners out, many pizza dates and visits. We will miss Geoff greatly, but the memory of his smile and wonderful sense of humor will always remain in our hearts! - Posted by: Kathy and Peter Wolos (close friends) on: May 21, 2013

We all grew up together in Birch River. Geoff his two brothers (Dave and Tim) and his parents were all great friends. Many great times spent at the Green house. Geoff always had the absolute best sense of humour even through the most difficult situations that he had to face. Never once did we ever hear Geoff say a bad word about anyone. His attending and graduating from the University of Manitoba was nothing short of a miracle and an incredible testament to Geoff's intellect and persistent attitude to succeed in spite of all obstacles. Our most heartfelt condolences go out to Barb and Tim and their loved ones. RIP Geoff you will be missed and the world is definitely a poorer place without you man.
