RONALD GEORGE STREIB October 13, 1936 - May 16, 2013 Sports fan extraordinaire, Ron Streib Sr., passed away surrounded by family on May 16, 2013. He will be missed by his devoted wife of 48 years, Shirley (Cann), his children Ron, Kathy, Caroline and son-in-law Wes. He was proud of his five grandchildren Jordan, Riley, Shannon, Aaron and Madison. Ron will be reunited with his parents, Philip and Caroline Streib, his siblings, Lydia, Alice, Ed, Trudy and brother-in-law Bill. Ron loved sports especially hockey, baseball and football. His love of sports began at an early age when he participated in soccer and gymnastics at Sir Sam Steele Elementary School in Elmwood. He went on to play hockey and baseball well into his adult years. He also took on the role of coach in hockey and baseball at East Elmwood Community Club. Ron also enjoyed reading Louis L'Amour novels, completing challenging crossword puzzles in record time, and watching John Wayne movies. Ron was born and raised in Winnipeg and was proud to be Canadian. He worked at Swift's for 29 years and for the Department of National Defense until he retired. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 708 McCalman Avenue in Winnipeg.
