RIKLA MARMEL Rikla Marmel passed away peacefully on May 18, 2013 in her 100th year. She was predeceased by her parents Brachanu and Aarenu, her sister Faiga, her husbands Louis Corman, Nathan Lockshin and Max Marmel, her daughter Gloria Goldenstein (George), her son-in-law Harvey Lockshin (Beverley). She is survived by her daughter Beverley Lockshin (Bobby Handler), son-in-law George Goldenstein (Carol), grandchildren Arnie (Natalia), Debra, Leonard, great-grandchildren Larissa and Julia Lockshin, Isabella Goldenstein; also Ruth Joy Moser and her children, Fae Page (Warren), Phil Moser (Ruth), Deborah Roitman (Michael), as well as many other relatives and close friends. Pallbearers were Mark Kaye, Ira Kaye, Lyle Kaye, Marshall Kneller, Jerry Finkel, and Morris Shenkarow. Rikla came to Canada as a young girl to pursue a better life. With her positive outlook, she enriched all those she came in contact with. She was perceptive, wise, compassionate, and truly a remarkable role model for all who knew her. She truly epitomized class and elegance, not only in the traditional sense, but with a beautiful soul. A person as rare as Rikla comes along once in a lifetime. She lived her life fully, loved unconditionally, and remained an inspiration. She will forever be missed by all those who loved her and she loved in return. Rikla's memory can be honoured through donations to the Max and Rose Rady Jewish Community Centre, specifically for the benefit of the "Stay Young Program", or the Gwen Secter Creative Living Centre.

  • She truly was a wonderful person. I enjoyed listening to her stories of how she first came to Canada and all of her life stories that she would share with me. She was an inspiration and will be missed by Rich and myself. R.I.P. Rikla. - Posted by: Carol Hargreaves (Friend) on: May 23, 2013
