ELEANOR MAY HEMINGER (nee JOHNSON) It is with deep sadness that we announce the somewhat sudden passing of our mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister, Eleanor May Heminger on Monday, May 20, 2013 at the St. Boniface Hospital, just eight days after her 86th birthday. Eleanor was strong, courageous, feisty, supportive, and above all enjoyed life! One of her main goals was to have everyone happy. She treated everyone equal, no matter colour, race, sex, or sexual orientation, and her love was unconditional. Eleanor will be forever remembered by her four children, Tim Heminger (Candace), John Heminger, Neal Heminger, and daughter Debbie Frank (Ken); grandchildren, Ryan Heminger (Tracey), Chad Heminger (Jessica), Robert Frank (Shantel), Trisha Bourgeois (Jay); great-grandchild Declan and brother Ron Johnson. Eleanor had far too many very special nieces and nephews that meant so much to her to name. She was predeceased by her brother Arthur, and sisters, Nancy, Hazel, and Alma. Independent and healthy was all Eleanor knew in her life and when she started to lose that, she knew it was time to be with God. She was always the last one to leave the party, always happy, always healthy until the last four months of her life when she lost her courageous battle with Cancer. Special thanks to the Home Care workers and Nurses that made her final few months so comfortable. As well, a special thanks to Dr. Unruh, Dr. Bager, the amazing staff at both Health Sciences Centre and St. Boniface Hospital for their tireless work in making both Eleanor and the family as comfortable as possible during her final days. A Celebration of Eleanor's Life will be held later this summer. Wojcik's Funeral Home & Crematorium, 2157 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, 204 897 - 4665 wojciksfuneralchapel.com.

  • Ken and Debbie and Family, Our deepest sympathies in the loss of your dear Mother, Eleanor. We came to know Eleanor when Debbie joined our family and whenever we met her at family events, we loved her friendly and enthusiastic manner in which she could easily mix with all ages and become the life of the party. She will always be there in spirit and will be forever remembered as a wonderful and kind lady, who made everyone feel like family.
