GORDON M. PAINE Gordon M. Paine of Chisago City, MN died Friday, January 11, 2013 in his home, at the age of 89. Gordon was born November 27, 1923 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to John A. and Rose M. Paine. He graduated from Kelvin High School, Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1940. He served as a Second World War pilot in the RCAF, flying the Avro Lancaster, B-24 Liberator and the B-25 Mitchell from 1942 to 1945. He married his wife Dorothy (Still) on March 29, 1947 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He worked in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and St. Paul, MN, for the St. Paul Companies as an underwriter, retiring after 43 years as an Executive Vice President. In his free time he enjoyed road trips, golf, watching the sunset on North Center Lake, was a member of the No-Smokers Club, did Sudoku and enjoyed Pie Day at the Village Inn in Wyoming, MN with his best friend, Gracie Schwartz and daughter, Barbara. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents John and Rose; wife Dorothy; and sister Helen F. Paine. He is survived by son Kenneth (Judy Jurek) of Stratford, WI; daughter Barbara (Ralph) Anderson of St. Croix Falls, WI; four grandchildren, Kyle Paine of Anoka, MN; Grace (Luke) Evansen of Minneapolis, MN; Luke (Elizabeth) Anderson of Green Bay, WI; Nate (Amanda) Anderson of Delavan, WI; MN; great-granddaughter Olivia J. Anderson of Green Bay, WI; and close friend Gracie Schwartz of Chisago City, MN. Interment service in Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army. Special thanks to St. Croix Hospice, Visiting Angels, Gentiva Health Care and Ecumen Parmly LifePointes.
